Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Great ending to a great show - its greatness will only truly be recognised in the years to come
Of course it makes sense for Bran to be the ruler at the end as sometimes it is best that the one not begging for the crown gets it as they are less likely to end up corrupting themselves. He is also the one eyed Raven so has a power that no other there had. A king does not really need to be able to walk and fight in battles (especially if the aim is a peaceful rule uniting the kingdoms) but definitely should posses a wise head on their shoulders.
The ending showed how the quest for power and the Iron Throne corrupts most people. It was fitting Jon Snow ended up sacrificing himself to help maintain peace (having killed Kalise) as it also showed his noble side. He was also shown despite its hardship to be most happy when actually North of the Wall (before it was knocked down) and evening finding love with Ygritte so in some ways he will return there as their king in most of the Wildings eyes.
Many good ending's and hints what may be further in the future in my eyes but then we are all different and entitled to our own view. What I do not agree with though is extremism in views and the, in some cases, horrible abuse aimed at certain people involved in the show.
Fans are important to the success of a show and shows should, to an extent, be tailored to suit the fan base but you can never please everyone at the same time. Also importantly had they had made a more predictable yet fan appeasing ending then there would have also been fans complaining about that too.
The Walking Dead: Wrath (2018)
Pointless idiots
Not the programme but just the sad pathetic haters out there. Why so many consistently bad reviews by people unable to justify a 1/10 score etc.?
Why would you still be watching a show if you hated it so much?
Only reasons can be you don't watch it but have little else to do but post weekly drivel about a show you say is the worst ever yet seem to profess to watch it religiously week in week out?!
Also try and comprehend what a real sub 3 or 4 out of 10 programme really looks like and it is nothing like this programme.
This show is still better than most other horror/drama/action programmes out there occasionally its slipped at times over seasons to spells of average levels sort of 6-7 but never less and mainly 8-9 with the odd 10's still worthy scores.
A great finale and set up as interesting premise for season 9 (yes that's right the studios still want this apparently regularly 1/10 scoring show, wonder why?!?).
The 100: Praimfaya (2017)
S4 finale
Very good final episode and by far and away the best of the 4th series. Prison ship could easily be jut Bellamy and co. returning as they struggled to find a solution to return and came across an old ark prisoner ship and used that as a safer return method. The 100 were just some of the prisoners not all so who knows it could be more Ark or other Ark types prisoners on the ship.
S5 will be interesting and no doubt have early on flash back episodes or segments covering the 6 years.
Hope to establish
- what happened in the bunker and did / can they get out seeing the Clarke radio to Bellamy conversation highlighting she cannot reach them or get them out
- what happened to Bellamy and co.
- where the young girl came from she seems familiar
- have there been other space ship housed survivors all along
- why we stopped seeing mutated creatures like we did a lot in s1 such as the water creature that attacked Octavia or the mutated faced deer Clarke saw
- what happened to any underground living people or creatures outside of Octavian Oncrew bunker
Should be a great potential for S5 to continue in strong form of S4 final episode
Les as de la jungle (2017)
OK but let down by Englisg versions voice cast
Took my 5 year old son to see this and it was very different than what I had lazily thought it would be from half watching a trailer at the cinema on our previous visit.
We saw a tiger striped penguin and had hoped it would be like the Croods with mish-mash made up animals but more aimed at 5 year old's (Croods to me despite being loved by my son is prime for the 8+ audience).
The film itself was competent enough in entertaining the 3 to 6 year old bracket but misses a trick in its story telling and humour not also targeting the adult and older children whop may want to see it to help create a good market for the film and possible sequels.
The story was a little bland, the pacing a bit all over the place and jokes often misfiring even for the little ones. Having said that the screening was nearly full which these days is rare and I didn't realise until after that this is a TV show as well so maybe that helped re getting the crowd in but it helps that normally there is rarely two kid focused CGI films out at the same time.
The main weaknesses for me was the voice cast most notably Maurice who just seemed to lack any kind of emotion. All lines delivered with the same non-descript do gooder type regardless of the situation. The big Gorillas voice was a little odd to and border-line offensive to listen to.
More background re why Aces were set up originally as the evil Koala was not the main enemy until they had already been established and rejected him in a manner that implied he got beaten up and thrown out of their den which despite his arrogance etc. meaning he deserved to be omitted from the Aces seemed out of place with a team of heroes. This again is another example of the mixed up tone throughout and gave the impression of a film directed in chunks by different people focusing on different audiences. One minute cuteness and light and do gooder feel and the next rather aggressive violence for a 3-6 year old audience. This therefore to me came across as the clumsy attempt to appeal to the wider market age wise rather than the smarter methods we have for the main come to love with the majority of Disney, Lego, Pixar, DreamWorks etc. type animated / CGI family films.
The main strengths was despite the budget and the obvious difference in class between the likes of Pixar type the CGI was spot on for the type of film. The backgrounds were very strong and the design of the main characters suited the film well and were done to a high, if just different to Pixar et al, standard.
I would recommend it when it as there was no real alternative and is still enjoyable enough visit for the 3-6 year old kids to keep them happy but leave alone if the likes of Ninjago are out at the cinema (as is now the case). Worth a buy on DVD but not to rush if its £7-10 - it will soon drop to the £3-5 supermarket price bracket with months.
(4.5/10 - not allowed buy IMDb but there you go)!
