Cosmos (2019)
Big things have small beginnings
Cosmos is the sort of film that comes out of nowhere and just smashes you in the face with all the intrigue and childlike awe of the first time you saw the stars. For a production so limited with its resources it's an absolutely superb love letter to realistic sci fi.
Sure it takes a good ten minutes or so to get going but laying character foundations down is important, however you must remember that script is king and to forgo establishing all of the three people in a story where it's basically them alone would be, well, odd. I won't lie though, the dollops of development between the lads we do get with a few animosities being ironed out are a little heavy handed and I was glad when the focus was back to the signal.
The Weavers have made something truly magical here, tapping into a dream many a stargazer has of being the one to answer the biggest question of them all. They've made a movie with such an epic story on virtually no budget. The big Hollywood studios and whoever is reading this should see Cosmos and realise just what is possible as long as you have heart.
A total must see.
