Horrible, But..........

What can I say. This is one of the worst horror films ever made. I'm talking a bore/snore fest of some of the screen's worst acting talent in the history of motion pictures.

The cast of never-weres, never-to-bes,and unknowns, all rate with zero acting talent. The script and the direction are just as bad. Made on a shoe-string budget of about one dollar and fifty cents (I can't believe they even paid these actors for their "performances"), it's the same old horror/terror storyline with a few conflicts, a minor chuckle or two, and some local South Florida locations. It sounds like it should be at least a little fun, but it's not. It's just one long boring, snoring, dull, mess.

But, in this haze of trash, there is some hope. Actor Derek Pixley shines through with a more then credible performance. His rugged good looks and relaxed acting style shows some very clear talent and on screen presence. If he can find a decent role in a decent film, Mr. Pixley just may become a leading man. Not too far behind is Steven Brack. Brack's laid back performance reminds one of James Dean. Brack has the movie star looks, but there's talent there as well. These two actors are the only shining moments in an otherwise stinking mess. I rate this film a 2!

Trashy 1980 Saturday Night Fever ripoff made in beautiful Argentina, South America. Typical story of romance, sex, drugs, and Disco. Lots of hot chicks and hot guys. Open shirts with long gold chains, flared pants, multi-color shirts, disco dresses, disco music, and more romance. Acting is over the top. The dance numbers are good, after all, Argentina is famous for the Tango. Lots of nice eye candy, but the script is horrible, the acting is just as bad, and the texture of the color is just as worst. A few American actors seem to be in this film under Hispanic names. Looks like their Spanish was dubbed in. Sort of funny to see that. Forget Disco of Love and rent Saturday Night Fever.

Reverend's Colt (1970)

Sad to see Guy Madison in this Junk

How the mighty have fallen. One of my favorite screen stars, the handsome and charming Guy Madison was reduced to making no-budget Italian films in the 1960s and 1970s.

This show is nothing more then a rip-off of hundreds of other dubbed in Westerns. Lots of shooting, brawling, horse chases, and of course, bad dubbing.

Guy Madison looks tired and worn out here. Couldn't of been easy for him to make this non-classic. However, if you are a fan of Mr. Madison, the film is at least worth seeing to see him. He tries his best in what he's got, and baby, he ain't got much to work with here.

St. Elmo's Fire (1985)

The Fire is Still Burning 21 Years later

St.Elmo's Fire was a great movie in 1985 & it's still great in 2006. The bottom line when you look beyond the gloss, is that the typical American male & female act just like these characters. Face it, 99% of all woman are attracted to "bad boys". No matter how bad the guy treats them, they're still coming back for more. Face it, people want the good things in life....just look at today's headlines of yuppie corporate CEO's looting the cash till to live the live of a king. Look at Britney marrying who she married. Get a load of the "ink" boys such as Jessie James, Tommy Lee, etc. Ever noticed that the hottest chicks are attracted to them. Enough said. St.Elmo's Fire is still during 21 years later.

Our Man in Havana (1959)

Out-Dated, but still Interesting

Just saw Our Man In Havana on a VHS that I won on e-bay. I had seen this movie as a child, but had little memory of it. Seems that the Tailor of Panama with Pierce Bronson was a remake of this movie. Interesting, but clearly out-dated movie. Has an historical element as it was filmed in pre-Castro Cuba. Amazingly, the Cuban Revolution didn't occur during the filming of this show. I'm not Cuban, but it was still very interesting to see the streets of Havana.

Great performances by everyone involved, but Ernie Kovacks steals the spotlight as the evil Police commander. A few very funny scenes, one with a gay overtone, and the other regarding a "supposed" desire to have a threesome. I'd rate Our Man In Havana a 7.

The Thousand Plane Raid (1969)

Better in Spanish!

Just saw this 36 year old movie on a Spanish T.V. channel.It was a midnight movie and it's dubbed in Spanish. This movie is very and I mean very cheaply made. It looks more like a made for T.V. movie. However, it was made in 1969 and most likely it was riding on the coat-tails of such films as Battle for Britan or Operation Crossbow. I like Christopher George, but the poor guy just wasn't given any decent acting roles. I feel his "meatiest" role was that of gunman Nelson McCloud in the John Wayne movie, El Dorado. Sadly, Christopher George died of a massive heart attack at 54, and is best remembered for his hit 1960s T.V. show, The Rat Patrol. As for this film, well, it's better in Spanish! Only thing, I don't speak Spanish!

Heart of Dixie (1989)

Heart of Dixie has no Heart

What a stinker. This movie was a total bore. I wanted to like this film because I'm a fan of all of the major characters. However, the characters were totally unbelievable. The Southern accents were laughable. There was no chemistry between any of the actors, let alone the two main stars. The acting was stiff and wooden, and appeared forced. In other words, it looked like they were acting. Poor Ally had a sour looking face the entire film. She must of realized what a stinker this movie was. I'd rate this movie no better then a local high school drama play. If you want to see a movie about racial injustice, rent the DVD classic, To Kill A Mockingbird; don't waste $14.99 buying this mess.

The Rise of the Roman Empress (1987)

The Rise & Fall is Right

Can't fault John Holmes in his acting role. He is pleasant enough and his mere presence usually makes these type of films at least bearable to watch.

The dubbing is however, horrible. Makes you wonder just where do they get these dubbers and who in the world gets paid to write this type of horrible script.

However a dark cloud of doom casts it's bleak shadow over these mess; the shadow of death. John Holmes was suffering from AIDS and according to the documentary on his life, he was well aware that he was infected and dying. Seems horrible selfish and cruel, that if this was in fact the truth, that he had unprotected sex with a number of female actresses in this movie.

I'd only recommend this movie if strictly for a novelty you want to see John Holmes next to last movie role.

Commandos (1968)

One of the Worst Movies of All Times

I don't know what film the people here saw. This is not a Dirty Dozen or even a Play Dirty. This is a cheaply made, horribly acted, horribly scripted, boring piece of junk. It's not even worth a dollar. They should pay someone to sit through this garbage heap.

Jack Kelly looks really embarrassed to be in this film. I really can't fault his terrible acting job because the script was written for 5 year olds. And Lee Van Cleaf is just as bad. He is totally wooden, listless, and sweats the whole film. He utters such stupid lines as, "This ain't a Halloween Party".

Even the woman in this film is hard to look at and has nothing what so ever to do with the plot. The action scene at the end is at least passable, but aside from that, I'd rather cough up 3 bucks and rent the Dirty Dozen.

The Shootist (1976)

A Fitting Ending For The Duke

The 1976 movie, The Shootist, was a fitting final for the legendary John Wayne. In a strange twist of fate, Wayne's character J.B. Books is a legendary gunman dying of cancer. He decides to die "with dignity" and challenges three local gun men to a final shootout on his birthday.

John Wayne died about three years later to cancer and I would prefer to remember his "ending" in the Shootist; going out in a blaze of Western Glory".

An excellent supporting cast, highlighted by a young Ron Howard gives this film a sharp edge. If you're a fan of Westerns or of John Wayne, then the Shootist is a must see.

The Damned (1969)

A Ingrid Thulin Masterpiece

Caduta degli dei, La is one of the most shocking movies in screen history. I truthfully don't believe this film could be made today, it's just too perverted.

Swedish actress Ingrid Thulin of Wild Strawberries fame is fantastic as a ruthless countess who will do anything, and I mean anything to achieve her desires for power. About 44 years old in 1969, Thulin presents a sexy and dangerous screen aura. She's blonde, lanky, and uses her stunning exotic looks and fit body to get what she wants.

This film is very demented, but it's symbolic of the fall of normality in Germany as the Nazi Party gains power. Scenes of gay orgies, nude men, gay cross dressers, and child molestation leave a bitter taste in your mouth. However, Ingrid Thulin's scene in which her sexually mixed-up son strips before her and then tears off her top is even further over the top. Thulin plays the part to perfection and as she lays half-naked in bed both crying tears of agony and moans in excitement, it's an outstanding symbolic scene of the damnation that over-took Germany.

High Time (1960)

A High OldTime!

This Bing Crosby film is just a good old time of fun. A great Sunday evening movie on a rainy night.

Bing is great in one of his best screen roles. He captures the humor separating the generations, yet in the end shows that there really wasn't much difference after all.

High Times captures the college life of the late 1950s, a time of fun, enjoyment, friendships, and romance. The movie captures a time before drugs, booze, and hazing turned into the Animal House of the 70s and the dismal destruction of today. One of the film's best scenes was Bing in drag for his frat party.

So, if you like Bing Crosby, college fun, light comedy, romantic fluff, you will enjoy watching High Times.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976)

Women were Crying & Screaming in the Theater!

I saw this movie when it first came out in Miami, Florida. When the 6feet 8inch. psycho killer wearing a potato-sack as a mask with the eyes cut-out, appears, and butchers the lover-lane couple, with his heavy breathing and the potato sack mask going in and out, a young woman in her 20s ran out of the theater hysterical, and a few other women were screaming! Made a few years before the slasher films of the 1980s, this film was way before its time. The killer was brutal, sadistic, and very realistic. The murders were done in a very realistic manner, and with a cast of almost complete unknowns, it had a documentary feeling to it. Veteran character actor Ben Johnson was excellent as usual, and a nervous looking Andrew Perine did a creditable job, but it was the killer who stole the show. Excellent movie, tame by today's standards, but a horror classic never-the-less.

Night Must Fall (1964)

Don't See This Film At Night!!!!

This black and white 1960s classic of a serial killer is one of the most frightening movies ever made. There are no monsters, masked killers, or nightmare ghouls. What is so utterly terrifying is that the sadistic murder is seemingly the "nicest" guy around. A good-looking, charming and friendly fellow; some 20 years before the horror of Ted Bundy!.

Albert Finney gives his most impressive and outstanding performance. He is chilling, lovable, funny, and scary. The opening scene in which Finney is walking in a swamp with a head-less, arm-less, leg-less torso is one of the most shocking and disturbing scenes in film history.

Night Must Fall is a really great piece of film-making, but don't see it before night falls! You won't be able to sleep!!!!!!

Lepke (1975)

Poor Tony Curtis

Sorry, I can not agree with fans who think this film is any good. It was a cheap rip-off of the gangster movies being made in the 1970s. Tony Curtis tries his best, but he just doesn't come across as a cold-blood killer. He looks bloated and this movie was just another in a series of lousy bombs he made from 1970 and on.

The movie was very cheaply made. The shootouts were very fake, most of the acting was cheesy and way over the top. Curtis is red-faced half the movie and generally seems embarrassed by the whole thing. The only 2 good-points of this failure was the great movie poster and the beautiful and sexy Mary Wilcox. If you're a fan of Tony Curtis, do yourself and him a favor and skip this stinker and rent Sweet Smell of Success or Some Like it Hot.

Naked Angels (1969)

Buy The Poster, Forget The Movie

Video stores and companies were charging $150.00 to copy a copy of Naked Angels. They are crazy! I saw this movie when it first came out at the Thunderbird Drive-In in Fort Lauderdale. The movie stunk. I mean there were a few very minor good points: the beautiful and sexy Jennifer Gans(blond, tan and built!), Las Vegas in it's hip-days, and that's about it.

The acting stinks. Mike Green as a leading man is revolting. The guy can't act, he looks like he didn't change his clothes for a month, and he keeps flopping off his motorcycle. Where did they get some of these actors; most look like desert hermits or Vegas homeless.

The one-sheet poster for this film is outstanding. Cheesy looking with neat 60s artwork of a horde of outlaw bikers and a beautiful girl. The poster sells for, you guessed it, $150.00! So, buy the cool poster and forget seeing this turkey.

Hell Riders (1984)

Hell is Right!

How sad to see the beautiful and talented Tina Louise reduced to making this horrible excuse for a film. Tina still looked fit and attractive, but for some reason seems truly frightened. I can understand her fear; fearing that this 3rd rate stinker would somehow be released to the general public. Also, I'm a fan of the likable Adam West. Again, as with Tina, Adam looks good and in great shape for a man his age. His acting here is passable, but the script is so bad, that it's difficult to even listen to the dialog.

The movie is a rip-off of the classic Brando biker flick, The Wild Ones; out-law biker gang is out-of-control in a small hick-town. The bikers here look like a motley group and I sure wouldn't want them to date my sister. The acting is stiff and wooden, and the story-plot is as old as sand. Hellriders is hell to watch!

The Turning Point (1977)

A Layered Legwarmer Festival

The Turning Point is still an enjoyable film almost 30 years after it was first released. The actors are all outstanding, as are the dancers, but the movie is stolen by ballet dancer Lesile Browne. Browne is only 19 in the film, but her dance skills are remarkable. Limited as an actress, yet she had a screen presence which made her enjoyable to watch.

She looked stunning dancing in the studio, as her leg-warmers slid down her shapely legs, she is a vision of pure beauty. Amazing that Browne was not cast as a dancer in the movie FAME.

The dance numbers are enjoyable, but unless you're a big fan of classical ballet, it may be somewhat boring. The male dancers all come across as very girlish, and the principal female stars very strong, a typical theme of some of the early 80s films.

So, put on your on tights, yank your leg-warmers to your thigh, pop on your ballet slippers, and enjoy The Turning Point.

The Lawyer (1970)

The Verdict is in! Mary Wilcox is Hot!

The Lawyer was Barry Newman's best acted role. Yet, as outstanding as Newman was, the show-stealer was blond bombshell Mary Wilcox as the slutty wife of a doctor accused of her savage murder.

Based on the famous Sam Shepperd murder case, the movie is well-acted, moves at a quick pace, and has enough twists and turns to make this one of the best courtroom dramas every made.

However, the sexy Mary Wilcox, in nothing more than a small supporting role, is the actress to remember long after the film is over. 100% all-natural, Wilcox had one of the most impressive bodies in screen history. Tall, tan, with long-shapely legs, and beautiful melon-shaped breasts, Wilcox's nude scene is one of the sexiest filmed. Of course it's spoiled by her on-screen murder. Why this beauty never achieved stardom is beyond me. She appeared a few years later in the Tony Curtis film Lepke, in a brief scene wearing a see-through night-gown and she looked as sexy as ever.

The Lawyer is great, but Mary Wilcox was greater.

Can't Stop the Music (1980)

I had a very "Gay" good time!

Can't Stop The Music was made in 1980 before AIDS & Safe Sex were ever heard of. Seems that every, and mean every male actor in this musical is Gay or acting Gay. Check it out: muscular guys in super-cut off jeans, guys with skin tight bulging pants, hot-pants roller bladders, and on and on. The women are macho and the guys are prissy and sweet; all look like they are cruising the local Gay club or city park.

This film is symbolic as the peak of Gay liberation and the sexual revolution. Who would have thought that with-in two short years it would all come crashing down. In a twist of fate, Al Pacino's film Cruising was made the same year depicting reckless sex as certain doom; unaware that the theme would turn out to be all so true, as AIDS "slaughtered" the cruising crowd.

The Village People were at their best and the Leatherman singing Danny Boy was a classic. Valerie Perrine looked as beautiful as ever. All I can say is, watching Who Can't Stop The Music is a really Gay good time......LOL!

Racing Fever (1964)

Race Right Out of The Theater!

It sounds like it should be at least a little fun, but it's not. It's just one long boring, snoring, dull, mess.

Joe Morrison at his worst. And for the "King of South Florida Drive-Ins" that's not saying much. This film is a Wipe-Out!

The Wild Rebels (1967)

Steve Alaimo's best Role!

I'm a big fan of Singer Steve Alaimo. Wild Rebel's was his best on-screen performance.

Steve plays an "Elvis" type character in this movie. When he's not wiping-out on the drag strip, he's romancing various beautiful women with his singing talents. His two songs in the movie are great! As for his acting; he was excellent playing the role of "hot-shot" racer Rod Tillman.

The supporting cast is just as impressive. Former boxing champion Willie Pastrano gives a realistic portrayal of a sadistic and sociopath out-law biker named Banjo. The show was filmed in both Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, and you get to see a lot of the local scenery.

Wild Rebels is Steve Alaimo's best film!
