iZombie (2015)
Don't Judge a TV Show by its Cover
I have to admit, when I first saw the promo for this show, I judged it by its cover. Even the name, "iZombie," was a bit of a turn off for me. Zombies were never on the top of my list when it came to supernatural creatures, but it seemed kind of interesting. I wanted to see if someone could pull off the whole 'zombie' things without simply retelling the same story. So, for that reason and that reason only, I watched the pilot episode. I couldn't be happier now. The so-called 'zombie' idea has been completely reworked, then put into uncharted plot territory. This has resulted in a far more interesting zombie than I could have ever imagined. iZombie has done to zombies what Twilight has done to vampires, but in a far less cheesy manor. Plus, I'm personally a sucker for solving crimes, and this show not only includes that, but puts a whole new dynamic to help the protagonist go about doing just that. Unsurprisingly, the CW has created comedy within a show that is also fairly dependent on suspense and drama. Hopefully, most will be able to put aside their initial judgments and watch the pilot - It's worth it!
Star vs. the Forces of Evil (2012)
A Good Show in a Sea of Trash
I turned this show on simply to see what it was about. I expected nothing more than a half-decent animated series with naive jokes and a plot line taken straight from another story book tale. However, I found that this show held tons of hilarious jokes and scenarios (sometimes even innuendos) within a creative plot. I was surprised that, while maintaining most aspects of a PG show, it was extremely entertaining and kept my attention well (which is saying a lot if you knew me). Best animated TV show since Gravity Falls. Highly recommend...
Pros: Great animation, Creative story line, Hilarious scenarios. Cons: A bit too naive to entertain older crowds.
This show definitely deserves a chance. Watch the first episode and, if you're anything like me, you'll be hooked.
