Cropsey (2009)
A Great Film that is Creepy and Intriguing
A friend of mine, who is a bit of a horror buff and urban legend fiend, got this film for us to watch as a group. We were all very creeped out by Andre Rand and if creepiness were a crime, he would have been sentenced to live. As it stands, Cropsey is about Andre Rand a real Staten Island man convicted of murdering two young girls and suspected in half a dozen more. This movie follows his trial and a couple of young filmmakers attempt to get to the heart of the matter. In the end not much is solved, but the mystery is almost more important than the answer. I recommend this movie to anyone who is intrigued by the human condition and how it can go wrong.
Edi (2002)
Beautiful Movie, Subtitles miss some of the jokes
I watched this film with my polish friend, and thought it was truly an amazing film. The scenes are beautifully done and some how the squalor of Poland is made to look amazing. We watched this movie subtitled into English and apparently we missed a lot of the puns. They are every few minutes in this movie.
I thought that the movie was a bit confusing at times because they continue to heap metaphor on top of metaphor. If any one is a fan of "classic" literature see how many common motifs you can spot. It is a beautifully acted movie. Edi and Jurek are quite the pair. The only thing I wondered was what the baby's name is. On the whole, this movie is certainly worth an hour and a half of your time.
