Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Thank you to everyone who took part in creating this film
At the end of the day this is a simple and beautiful story about a mother and daughter in a divided, struggling relationship struggling trying to understand one another and failing resulting in their entire world falling apart (both figuratively and literally). The message and self-gratifying feeling this films delivers to its viewers has profoundly touched me, I loved every moment of it. Relationships in immigrant families especially with one's mother, even if filled with intentions of love and protection can be difficult and what a beautiful and unique way to tell it, even if I don't think one would will reallly ever understand or full accept the other at least not in our reality.
Analysis hat, on whats sets it apart is its ability to blend genres, were all now more than ever aware of the multiverse (in films, of course!) so the concept easy enough to grasp, but it allowed it brought a certain originality to this film that probably wont be replicable elsewhere, so a lot of people might called this a gimmick film I mean it certainly won't spawn any sequels or prequels or it's own original genre but I mean who even whats that am I right?
TL;DR
- an "original" film
- with great visuals
- and great storytelling/pacing
- and more importantly a very good understanding of when to be funny and not to be.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Great film, worth it
This movie was great, and well worth watching. This is my first review and I just watched the film for a fourth time now, just to write this and I can say as much that story and acting pulled me in and gave me some form of escape from reality just as the first time.
TSR can have pretty dark at moments at times, but in truth I think its a story about hope and one mans desperation for it.
I'd like to bring attention especially to the quality of the acting in most films there are times when we see or hear something in a way that we don't believe and it disturbs the false reality a film is supposed to project, but Tim Robbins & Morgan Freeman so effortlessly pull it off that not once did I falter in my belief that I was watching the story and life of Andy Dufresene and Ellis "Red" Redding.
that is of course till the screen went dark and the credits rolled.
