Doctor Who: Heaven Sent (2015)
Calm Down
I've seen many reviews saying that this was the best Doctor Who episode ever. I'm pointing out that it most definitely isn't. Don't get me wrong, it was a good episode, but there were too many things that kept it from being amazing. The Doctor completely by himself was interesting, and the episode, for only like the third time in the series, had suspense and intrigue. Capaldi was good, and as you realise what the place is it's fun and i felt scared for sure at various points. And (trumpet fanfare) no cringe-worthy overly gravitas character failing development dialogue! Finally! However... The music was annoying and completely out of place. The bits in the Tardis dragged on and split up the action too much. Capaldi completely by himself got wearisome. And then the ending. The idea of him being there for 2 billion years is just plain farcical and stupid. And then the plot holes. -how do the skulls get in the water? The second time he was there did he pick up the original skull and walk around with it before lobbing it in the water? And how did he know the stars' positioning was wrong without knowing where he was? Oh and physics lesson - you cant break diamond by punching it over and over. Even if it is 2 billion times. It wont break the bonds, you need one super strong punch to split the carbon, or the structure will hold. And the main flaw- all plot points were told by the Doctor as pure exposition dialogue to no one in particular. That is just rookie stuff. It took away from everything, made it all unrealistic. I think i finally understand why everyone on this claims this series to be the best ever, even when the viewings have gone down and none of my friends watch it anymore. Saying this is better than Tennant is just false because... because this season is too focused on character development to show everything about them, with 'magnificent' performances giving audiences heart palpitations *funnily enough, it doesn't*. I know if David Tennant did this episode he would'nt be able to explore inner emotional rage demons with gravitas and wondrous anger, but what he could do was make it FUN TO WATCH. When i watch Doctor Who i don't want to have a lesson in how to show the fallibility of human nature, or terrorism, or God making. Why Blink, Dark Water, Parting of the Ways and Doomsday are so much better than this episode, and why this series sucks, is because its dull. It isn't Doctor Who. Capaldi is a good actor and has had good episodes but his character is all 'i'm flimsy emotionally and constantly angry and dark and brooding, watch me flesh out all the characters through magnificent dialogue'. That is not fun. Doctor Who was fast paced, exciting, funny, scary, and sci fi to the extreme with relatable characters and a sense of togetherness, and it did flesh out characters and have emotional moments despite this e.g every other companion's leaving scene. I wonder why no one watches anymore... Oh yeah. Just change the style, because i'm sorry but this doesn't work.
Doctor Who: Face the Raven (2015)
Save Doctor Who from the clutches of nothing happening
This episode just showed how doctor who has died. I was looking forward to it actually, it sounded interesting and the episodes at this point in the series are usually good. Review of the episode in short - starts OK, a bit slow, stupid street, no plot, nothing happens, dialogue, dialogue, dialogue *begins to look at Ipad* dialogue dialogue dialogue oh dear Clara died. Except... who cares? This series has been the worst ever, and i have to give it to them, they swept away the competition with ease. Because the episodes are tired, nothing happens, no action, no original or interesting monsters, and lots and lots of uninteresting dialogue. The first three were OK, the third being the best. The rest just sucked. The things that made the first series' of this show so good were as follows : fun characters, good monsters, action, story. This series has had none whatsoever. They all just... The writing is awful, every episode is just boring as hell. Give us intrigue, excitement etc. In fact they just recycle all the old monsters over and over again, with stupid boring plots of course, i mean how hard is it to make a story fun to watch? They're trying to make it all emotional and inspirational but failing miserably. Like the Zygon episodes. Those had action, and the beginning of the second was fantastic! The inversion was creepy and gripping, and then it wasted that, and ended with a speech that took forever and would not have been out of place in 'Crime and Punishment'. I just switched off to be honest, it was cheesy, boring and predictable. After this absolute shocker of a series, make major changes. I've been saying this for like 3 years but now they have to listen. Sack all the writers and revamp everything. Maybe then watching my favourite childhood show won't be such a chore.
Doctor Who: The Girl Who Died (2015)
Get better writers you idiots
This episode just sucked. I found myself cringing all the time. Nothing happened in it, too much stupid dialogue, goofy things, and general awfulness. I don't know what's happened to doctor who but it ain't good. Not at all. The enemies looked ridiculous, the acting was pitiful, and the whole thing with resurrection made no sense. It was boring, cringy, and generally just bad in every way. This series has been disappointing, and this episode just epitomises why.
Please help doctor who. I don't know who liked this episode, but whoever you are, open your eyes!! David tennanf and Christopher ecclestions episode were so much better.... So so so much better,,.
Batman: Arkham Origins (2013)
Brilliant!
A really, really good game. It has been criticised for not having enough original content but, to be honest, i didn't really care. A great story, good game-play and some of the bosses truly were amazing. 10/10.
I've seen videos of people just going on and on about things that NO ONE GIVES A DAMN ABOUT. One person tried to argue that i was just being defencive of it because i'd been looking forward to it (and pre-ordered it) for months. He said the reason it was bad was because the story sucked, but the main criticism was frame rate issues! And really - who cares that the enigma data packs were easy, or that the worst nightmare costume real? Some people just wanted something to hate on and a batman game made by a different company fit the bill. When they realised it was good then... You get the reception it had. A glitch in the first scene apparently makes a game worst than its's predecessors.
