Supernatural: Alpha and Omega (2016)
Underwhelming and lacking Quality
Warning, spoilers.....
Now that it's all over and done, while I liked the ending itself with God and Darkness reconciling, there are some very glaring flaws with this season overall and the writing quality of this episode:
-Amara's character was retconned: we went from an amoral soul eating sociopath to "just" a mad, furious sibling, she wanted to be again all there is, she seek-ed destruction (after all she's the Darkness) but suddenly in this episode she started feeling love towards creation
Based on what was presented to us, God was creation and Amara destruction, this episode undermined the mythology established in the beginning of this season
-God was too weak and irrelevant: this one was present in the previous episode as well, I don't mind Darkness managing to beat God (after all God is creation and she is destruction so it makes sense as she can't create, he can't destroy) but more effort needed to be put by her and he needed to be portrayed more gracefully
These sort of things put viewers off, you can only go so much before people start running out of suspension of disbelief, when you say God is dying and literally no one even in the show shows any sort of emotion, it's just bad
-Lack of attention to details: THE GREATEST effect of this show was the one they had for Angels and their wings, where's that? God fixed The vessel when fixing Lucifer too, why is Cas still using cars and why Crowley the demon is portrayed more gracefully than Castiel the seraph?
Again a put off for viewers
Fix the angel wings for chu..God's sake and stop making once the most special creatures of the SPN universe less useful than a human
Final notes:
-I'm not still buying into the female character but I'm willing to see what happens
-Andrew Dabb is not a good choice as a show-runner, all of the flaws mentioned above are proof of this
The end
Supernatural: Don't Call Me Shurley (2016)
Good...for the most part
This one was interesting, tackling the subject of God is a big deal and requires extra carefulness
Where to start, I gave this a 8, just took out 2 points and here's why
(Beware heavy spoilers)
-It was too much meta, specially at the beginning, unfortunately the SPN writers (when I say Writers I mean Robbie Thomson and those two idiots) have a tendency to meta up even the most serious plots and stories, truth to be told, this episode needed to be "less meta" and more serious if you know what I mean
-With utmost respect for the LGBT community, I feel like recently episodes are becoming too much LGBT oriented lately and while it "shouldn't" be a problem, tackling this subject specially (GOD) with that sort of mindset damages the seriousness and credibility of the show, I'm fine with characters like the hunters from the previous episode but when you're talking God, you're talking about people's beliefs and people's beliefs are not a stage to prove a point and further an agenda
It was just a tiny little half line but this one could have destroyed this episode if it wasn't for the stuff that followed
Now on to positives, I liked the way GOD at the end fixed everything through music and despite the belief of a certain part of fandom about God looking like a douche, he actually had a point
People are equipped with all the necessary requirements to make choices and decisions about themselves, what would be the point if God were to intervene every time someone screws something up?
In the end I would appreciate if writers wrote more seriously and more careful about the material they wrote, this is a good show it would be a shame for it to go downhill because of unnecessary meta or agenda writing
The End
Supernatural: Beyond the Mat (2016)
It was....fine
Jumping right to the point, this was an entertaining episode, wrestling fan Dean was great, good semi-filler episode all around but I had one massive issue with it
This next part contains spoilers
Crowley outwitted Lucifer and got his hands on the hand of god, fine so far but then God's top lieutenant, possibly the most powerful being on earth after Amara, a top freaking Archangel who has helped to imprison Dakness just stood there like a potato holding hands with a Demon girl waiting to be attacked by a God powered up Crowley and wait for it....WAS SAVED BY A DEMON!
That's just bad, careless, lazy writing, it made Lucifer look Castiel level weak which is the weakest anyone can ever be....
This one scene cost this Ep two points, I would have voted 7 had it was done better
The Mentalist: White Orchids (2015)
One of the most satisfying Finales I have ever seen
This two part Finale delivered more emotion to me that any other show, I hadn't have felt this amount satisfaction and happiness for a fictional character in a show
Simon Baker must be given a Golden Globe for the final scene, his face delivered the emotional pulse perfectly
Bruno Heller should applauded for not ruining this finale by making it "Dramatic" (so called), he went with the flow and give everyone what they wanted and that was seeing, "feeling" Patrick Jane's redemption and Happiness
I'm going to miss this show
The Mentalist: Copper Bullet (2015)
I'm both happy and Sad
I don't know how a writer or actor can make the viewer care about a fictional character, to make the viewer feel happy or sad when the character is happy or sad, The Mentalist however can be a good reference for any writer, showrunner and actor in making the viewers care deeply about characters specially after the two great episodes that we have been given these past two week
the seventh season in general as pointed out by creator "Bruno Heller" is an encore, meant to be a final hurrah for a great show and unlike other shows, "so far" it doesn't have overly dramatic events or scenes, the writer is not changing the direction of the character, it feels incredibly natural
an example is The Love between Lisbon and Jane doesn't require over the top sex scenes a simple observation of how they act together is enough
the ending minutes of this episode was by far one of the greatest scenes of this show with only showing the characters and how happy they are together......I am happy for their happiness but sad that in a few weeks, this show is gonna end.....
Supernatural: Girls, Girls, Girls (2014)
A very Satisfying Episode
This EP had the Laughs, Typical Dean behavior, Emotional moments, a good sent off to a rather stale character, beginning of an interesting Arc and the writers recognizing their mistreating of The Angels..
The Situation with Hanna and her recognition of Human condition and what's the right mission was quite satisfying to me, It effectively began rebuilding Angels as what and how they should be like rather than the lackluster they have been in last seasons....It could be a good foundation for writing off the Angels, at least most of them and returning them to the place they should been all along, as the superior and mystic Celestials they truly are managing the universe and following up on their original mission of Protecting Humanity...some recurring appearances on the angel's behalf after their possible write off would be pretty good...
in terms of Brothers relationship, I'm beginning to forget the abomination of last seasons and starting to literally "Care" again which is good...
This Episode felt like a Classic SPN episode from the "Good Old Days" rather than not so good episodes of late....
the only "maybe"questionable thing was Dean's usage of online Dating, this didn't seem Dean Winchester style at first but it could be Dean adapting more elaborate ways to get laid which frankly wasn't a big deal for me considering the rest of this EP
I have criticized this show a lot as of late but I'm glad it reminded me why I have fallen in love with this show in the first place so hats off to Berenes....
Supernatural: Fan Fiction (2014)
Borderline
The interesting thing is that I both hated and loved this episode at the same time, I found myself laughing loudly at Dean's reactions to those "Fan girl wannabes Perverted ideas" and muting angrily each time they wanted to sing anything.....I loved chucks return and loved the ending scene but I absolutely hated the fact that This show forced a couple of Teenager fan girls's puberty Dreams down our Adult straight male (even female) throats, which was annoying......too much air time was given to these annoying Teenager school girls than the brothers and the story which was another negative point...this EP was supposed to be a love letter to all fans, but sadly, it turned out to be love letter to to Marie alike fans not you and I......
Supernatural: Black (2014)
Not Good Enough
This premiere failed to put up to the hype that the S9 finale created, no particular Arc except Dean and Cas has been introduced.....Dean is a demon and he shows that he doesn't care about anything, however still he doesn't express the viciousness that a typical demon does....its just a Dean that doesn't care about anything or anyone (except a one night stand lover), not a Dean with a twisted soul that enjoys killing...i think in many ways he is even calmer than the Human Dean with Mark Of Cain.....Castiel's story began strange with him in a bed and Hanna showing up behind his doorsteps...there are a couple of issues here, 1) haven't angels return to heaven?...so they should be healed because of their presence in heaven, then why Hanna is still walking, and riding along in a car with Cas?.....2)Cas's fading grace is killing him, however he is still an angel and doesn't need and Cannot sleep (as he said previously about missing being a human)....so how come he was sleeping?...this was a pretty weak premiere, maybe weakest of the whole show.......it was anti Climatic and "not" suspenseful...but it was a bit funny..I give it that....
