Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)

Not a family movie

Pains me to say this, but it was not great, only ok. I like all Ghostbusters movies except the stupid-humor one which was a disaster.

This latest one, (slight spoiler) between the teenage love with a poltergeist, and the constant use of phases and words that simply took away from the fun-feel, their intention of this movie is pure Hollywood looking for edgy scenes.

The story, meh. Was really good to see the original cast again and of course Echo 1.

Seen it once. Would be ok with never seeing it again.

The end scene, during the credit, was funny.

If they confine making these, going forward with the ususl social justice Hollywood track, it will be the last I bother wasting money on.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)

Moral dissatisfaction

The first 15min could have done without.

The writers did a poor job setting the stage.

Too many cheesy lines and poor attempts to fill gaps in the story line with character having a long single dialog to explain thing.

This will be the last Transformers movie I pay to see.

They clearly took a great franchase and once again Hollywood used it to plug political and social activism.

Also, the choice to have characters steal and make poor choices...I didn't pay good money to deal with inner city lack of morals.

Giving this 5 stars just to be nice.

And the lack of Unicron throughout was highly disappointing. There was more Unicron in the 80s cartoon movie!!!

Generation X (2016)

Having grown up in this time period, this doesn't not relate to me

I would say this show is 90% political propaganda, 10% reminiscent.

They do call out critical moments in history, that yes, some are political in nature, but then this show goes too far and tries to push a single point of view.

There is no reason to showcase modern politicians and tv taking heads in a show like this just because they are modern politicians and talking heads on TV today. Also, it would have better to stick with icons from the time that are of the same age as those of us that grew up during the era. There were plenty of good actors and sports icons, etc and most of them are still alive today. However this show chose a different route.

Sorry, this show lost my family as a viewer after we pushed ourselves to hang in there (with help from my wife and oldest son.) We made it to episode 3 before cutting it off.

Not worth the time if you want to reminisce.

Unplugging (2022)

Eva was the star

Loved Eva's acting. Held the movie together. The writers sucked. Too much weirdness throughout. A few moments without any explanation. The ending was just ok. Guess the whole movie quietly was a dig at small town people and people that don't know how to use technology. The struggle of being married was the visual story. If not for a few good actors and Eva, this movie would have received 2 stars just because I didn't turn it off before the end.

Since imbd wants 600 chars for submitting a review, I will add that it was about 45min that I almost feel asleep if not for my wife sitting next to me.

Awake: The Million Dollar Game (2019)

I love no commercials, but....

The game show is excellent. The game concept good. But there is a fake feeling when watching. The crowd is screaming the entire time these sleepy people are trying ro concentrate on tough tasks each round. Crazy lights everywhere. On a stage in the middle of it all. Just imagine being super tired. Makes me think the contestants are professional or aspiring actors, and not just ordinary people.

Then there is a crazy scale at the end narrowing down, trying to make them yet make repetitive decisions, while nickle and dining them. The first episode, the game didn't pay out any cash. Episode 2 it was pennies compared to a million. I would expect greater rewards, but it feels cheap.

The game show lost me and my 8 yr old after episode 2.

Sing 2 (2021)

Not for young kids

The song selected are not for kids. People that say this is for the whole family ate not accurate. Just make sure you dont buy the soundtrack for kids to listen to or repeatedly watch the movie with young kids, perhaps even old kids.

The movie was not as good as the first.

Keeping this short as its nit worth writing about any further.

Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)

Was not worth $30. Should have waited til June.

Acting, good. Writing, terrible.

It's a kids movie and a negative line "humans will be humans." Really like Disney??!! Find new writers.

Overall, didn't keep my family in their seats.
