Raines (2007)
8/10
I can't believe this show got cancelled
11 June 2008
Raines is a unique take on the detective/cop drama. I'll start by saying that Jeff Goldblum is one of my favourite actors, i just love his acting style, his voice and how he naturally brings humour to his scenes. Saying that, the character Raines is like a glove for Jeff, it is almost surreal watching him play Raines, he does it flawlessly, i cant think of any other word to describe it.

The show itself is really interesting and like i said has a unique take that makes it stand out from other detective/cop dramas. Raines sees and talks to the dead victims of the crimes he is investigating, but they are not ghosts, but extremely vivid hallucinations. I won't reveal anything but an event happened that caused Raines to see these victims. It is a unique way of character development for the victims and you find yourself caring for these characters much more than you should be. Other than that there is nothing really special about the way the crimes are solved or the crimes themselves but you won't care, you will be mesmerised by Goldblum's performance throughout every episode.

After 8 episodes this show got cancelled. Proof that modern TV is becoming dumber with every passing day. Instead of interesting and intelligent shows like Raines we get all the reality crap.

8/10. One of the better TV shows iv'e seen in recent years.

Rush Hour 3 (2007)
5/10
Only for die hard Rush Hour fans
28 August 2007
Rush Hour 3 was quite disappointing. The plot is straight out of your typical Asian kung fu style movie and therefore it is not very interesting at all and very predictable. The subplot between Inspector Lee and his Brother was awkward and i thought it was very fake and un-believable.

But we don't go to see a Rush Hour film for it's story, but rather for the comedy that Chris Tucker brings and the fighting that Jackie Chan brings. Unfortunately both are lacking in Rush Hour 3. First of all the fight scenes are few and far between, featuring only 1 big fight at the end. I didn't find the film very funny either, Chris Tucker seems to have lost it in this film.

The best part of Rush Hour 3 is the awesome French taxi driver who becomes an American Super-Spy for the day. His scenes were great and easily the funniest scenes in the movie, in my opinion.

I can't say i can recommend this film to anyone but die hard Rush Hour fans or fans of Chris/Jackie. It's a typical movie with an uninteresting plot and sub-par fighting and comedy. 5/10

Bratz (2007)
1/10
This movie is the worst
9 August 2007
I was just reading some comment before i decided to make my own, this guy honestly believes this film deserves a 10/10 rating. Yes that's right, according to this guy the film Bratz is a perfect masterpiece with impeccable acting, dialogue and story, backed up by Oscar worthy directing and screenplay. At least that's what a film with a 10/10 rating should be. Bratz is not. This is possibly the *worst* film i have ever seen. This film does not even deserve a 1/10 it is that bad. Im not trying to spite this film, i am honestly speaking my feelings for this film here, i have never felt more insulted, never have i cringed so much in a film and i actually felt embarrassed by some of the scenes i have had the misfortune of watching.

Stay away from this film at all costs. It will scar your brain forever.

Not very original or funny
30 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This post contains some mild spoilers.

The long awaited Simpsons Movie has arrived and at first glance it seems to be doing really well. It's had some good reviews in the media and it's doing well on IMDb. Im not particularly sure why though.

I found The Simpsons Movie to be an overly long episode of the later seasons quality. The "funny" gags were few and far between (Spider Pig just was not funny), there wasn't nearly enough screen time for some of the fan favourite characters (skinner, moe, barney...for example) but i can understand its hard to please everyone in such a limited amount of time. The overall plot of the story felt no different to what you might see in your average episode and used the same old routines we have grown tired of (Marge leaving homer, the town of springfield VS simpsons, nelsons laughing are some examples).

The animation was top notch as you would expect and i particularly enjoyed the music which didn't quite feel like your average Simpsons music but i thought it matched the movie quite well.

After such a long wait and much hype i can honestly say i was disappointed with The Simpsons Movie. Perhaps i was expecting too much though. Nevertheless i would still recommend seeing this movie, it was still entertaining and it did have some stellar laugh out loud moments (moe's bar scene was hilarious), just nowhere near enough for a Simpsons Movie. 6/10
