X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Not as bad as I expected
After reading lots of horrible reviews I almost didn't bother but, after watching, I'm glad I did. It's not the best but it's also nowhere near as bad as the reviews make it out to be. It's just a bit of light entertainment after all.
Paradoxically I'm grateful to the bad reviews, as I kept bracing myself for it to get really dreadful and it just didn't. The weakness is definitely the script and you can appreciate the actors' efforts to get something out of it at times.
I wouldn't go out of my way but if you're bored and a fan of the franchise then give it a look.

Genius
This is an exceptionally clever film. Multiple watches only make me appreciate it more. The storytelling is tight and full of tension. The technical expertise in the cinematography and photography is awe inspiring. It is a film of extraordinary discipline and intensity. For the film connoisseur.

If you don't understand it, don't review it negatively.
This was a brilliant work but it is a film for connoisseurs who want to dig deep. It isn't entertainment and is definitely not fun. With such a big name at the helm a mass audience is seeing what is more or less an Arthouse movie, being disappointed, and that's ok. It doesn't make it a bad movie just because it goes over your head. Just shrug your shoulders and move on.
