Super Deluxe (2019)
This movie is pure art! This is peak Indian cinema.
This movies does not have cheap thrills you would expect to see in most Indian movies. By cheap thrills I mean, presenting the lead male actor as a demigod, the lead actress limited to a few songs and a 10 minutes romance track, slow motion shots for most scenes, and spoon feeding repetitive back ground score. I've noticed the low ratings the other users gave this movie are mostly based on the cheap thrills this movie is lacking.
Other reviewers compare this movie to Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. Let me make it clear there is no similarity between these two movies other than the concept of intervening story lines.
This was India's best movie of 2019, not the official India's oscar entry Gully Boy(which is actually a rip off of Eminem's 8 Mile).
What made the movie so good for me? The story. Thiagarajan Kumararaja takes several characters and creates different intriguing storylines for each of them and connects all these characters and storylines in a most satisfying and beautiful manner. His story includes the topics that are frowned upon and almost never addressed positively in India, transgenders, sex, pornography and atheism. He presents these issues in a realistic manner to the screen. The actors did a splendid job in the movie and gave life to their characters. I cannot pick a single actor out for their performance because all the actors were phenomenal.
Please give this movie a watch. Highly recommended!
The Witcher: Much More (2019)
Overall a Great season 1 that couldn't reach the full potential with the ending
My only gripe with the show was the ending, all the writers had to do was copy the lines from the end of second book and put them into the script at the end of season 8. But what they do is over use the lines about destiny throughout the season unnecessarily.
The short stories were executed almost perfectly into episodes. We also get a story into the past of Yennefer, which wasn't that interesting to me.
The actors fit their roles perfectly. Credit should go to Henry Cavill for nailing the accent and voice right. Also more credit to him for some excellent action with the sword.
I was skeptical about the show ever since it had been announced, it surpassed my expectations.
Game of Thrones (2011)
WHOEVER APPROVED THE SCRIPT FOR SEASON 7&8 AT HBO, PLEASE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE DRUG AND WHERE I CAN FIND IT
This series has been exceptional through its first six seasons. I used to recommend the show to people that haven't watched it. Now after season 8, I steer people away from watching the show.
Anyone will love the first six seasons, but it isn't worth the heartbreak you will experience after watching the final two seasons. You spend all this time talking about the show, the characters, the subplots, speculating the ending. But what you get is bad dialogues, plot holes, unsatisfactory story, an epic battle that you literally can't see, some complicated characters becoming bots, some heroes just fading into the background, some heroes turning villains unnecessarily and of course the worst possible ending.
Don't believe the critics and people that say they liked the ending. What they are encouraging is mediocrity. If I have to say few things that keep the final two seasons above water, they are, the music, the production sets and the actors.
Netflix executives that hired David & Dan for $250 million, really? You spent that much money on mediocrity?
I don't recommend anyone watch this series because the payoff isn't worth it.
24 (2016)
Not bad, a quality movie...
Okay honestly this movie stands out against other recent movies this year in India. Made very few errors regarding the time lines shown in the movie. The graphics aren't great but the aren't really bad. Personally the movie was a half hour too long for me, the producers and director could have cut down on few songs and spent the budget on graphics and sets.
The plot is really good, some scenes in the movie stand out. I could spot few major plot holes in the movie. The ending was very cheesy and pedophilic in a way.
The acting of the lead cast was exceptional, especially Suriya. Suriya plays the three characters with a lot of variation. The direction and screen play was really good. Director Vikram Kumar is a director with many quality movies under his belt, his movies differ from one other, his movies contain very few commercial elements in them and focus mainly on a story. Well the same goes for this movie.
Overall this is a unique movie and is entertaining.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
The Avengers again!!!
This movie is a straight out commercial film without any serious plot and with a lot of one liner jokes. Seems like Marvel is ripping themselves, Age of Ultron is very similar to The Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy. The super hero team is divided in the starting only to unite by the end of the film to defeat the antagonist.
From the beginning of the movie we can see that the story will set the plot for the future Marvel movies Civil War, Avengers Infinity Wars part 1 and part 2.
The main antagonist Ultron doesn't seem like a serious guy. Even he has his one liners. I couldn't take Ultron seriously from the beginning of the movie except for his appearance. Ultron is supposed to be a really serious character, impossible to outsmart and difficult to beat.
The locations were really good and the graphics were superb. But the 3d was like any other film.
There was not much seriousness to the characters, all the director cared about was which character gets the last one liner. Iam not really sure why Captain America says "language", even after he fought in the world war, he got beaten up on the streets.
Overall I will not be expecting the future Avengers films to outdo this film.
