Greyhound (2020)

Character development? Oh... come on... Top Notch war movie.
11 July 2020
Welcome to the harsh reality of a battleship commander who has to keep his head cool and give order after order after order after order (yeah until that gets tedious, but nobody asks questioins about that if you're walking on eggs - just throw yourself in the shoes of those men) to find&destroy kraut u-boats and avoid their torpedos.

Very realistic atlantic sea battle stuff with Hanks at his best, as per usual. Had me on edge throughout coz of his excellent performance, and same for the rest of the crew. But also the imaging that is no less than impressive, the wide dark seascapes with its rough waters, war vessels and torpedos cutting through it in cold black weather. The constant tension those soldiers are on, trying to make sense of all this and the consequent nervous - but decisively - per second adjusted ordering around, is very feelable/sensible.

This - simple&short but highly effective story - movie makes it easy to have yourself sucked into the technical and brutal going-ons of marine battle.

There is no time for "character development" when you're targeted by nazi Uboat's torpedos while trying to bang those same Uboats out of the sea, believe me........... :-P... are people even enjoying good movies, or just nit-picking and acid-pissing when they get a chance? Deluge yourself into this film and have a good, however nerve wrecking, good ride. There's absolutely nothing "boring" about this, really!

Prepare for some heavy true-story 1-on-1 battles between German Uboats and the USS Greyhound and other ships in a convoy over the Atlantic during WW2.

Production values are high, so also my ranking. Go see it on wide screen, you won't be disappointed even if the first part seems tedious with all the non-stop ordering going on. It builds up to something quite spectacular. That's just how it is on high tense in wartime, right?

Only thing that was akward that personnel was not much unbalanced with the ship being thrown around in high seas, oh well.... so they lost 1 star there, okay?

The Sinner (2017–2021)

top-notch INCLUDING 3rd season
23 June 2020
No clue why the 3rd season gets all the de-bunking.

It kept me on the edge all episodes. Maybe even more than first 2 seasons that were also very good.

Watch (ok... with some patience) Jamie slowly but steadily go psycho as it can get psycho from his past experiences.

Ambrose and all cops don't know how to handle it, rightfully so coz it's just too weird. That's why all the f-ups by police. Ambrose - the also emotionally hurt detective - even gets sucked into Jamies psychosis to some extent... but always so to get to the truth.

This is tense slow-build-up-psycho-thriller at its best.

Ignore the clueless naysayer reviews and watch this season trying not to bite your nails off.

Very much awaiting another relentless brilliant 4th season that's coming up. I hope it will be good as these 3 ones.

My complimets to the makers, and keep this up.

It's just good. Period.

The Occupant (2020)

Netflix's "The Occupant". Nerve wrecking slow-burner.
29 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Yes it is. A nerve wrecking slow-burner that is.

People who like a Hitchcockian long build-up that'll go in a direction you'll maybe suspect, but twists along the way, should watch this.

Will the perpetrator get caught while doing his idiot - but apparently genius - moves? He's sure waiting a long time to think about it.. err, what anyway? Yes... No! ... ohhh ...almost caught.. why is he doing this?.. ah, ok, i get it. But what a psycho he is to those women he can only lie to.. uhhmm is he really lying or just not telling them everything, which is not so bad, even protecting them??? Ah.. i can't really figure it out... Those alcoholics are at it again. Oh well, it's all about the money, right?

It's tiring to watch sometimes when you take the effort to follow it all.

Please go watch this very decent and exciting good paced thriller-drama, you'll have a good time (even if the ending is silly, but hey, running time and monny was up).

Much better than the blockbuster addicts here "judge", who need shoot-outs, gore and explosions :-P

Don't miss it.
