The Shunning (2011 TV Movie)
Oy vey!
14 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I was looking forward to this, as I tend to enjoy Hallmark movies, but this was just God awful! I couldn't get past the bizarre accents, which kept changing, English, German, even some French. WTH? They couldn't hire a dialogue coach? It was extremely distracting. The acting, too, was pretty bad, aside for Danielle Panabaker as Katie. Sandra W. Van Natta, as the mother, was almost painful to watch! Even Sherry Stringfield seemed to be phoning it in. The plot holes made Swiss cheese seem whole and solid. People here have alluded to the book/series. It would have been nice if they'd mentioned which book/series and the name of the author. I think I might have found it but I'm not sure.http://www.beverlylewis.com/ It appears that Hallmark/Lifetime wanted to tell a story using specific incidents but made no effort to tie them together cogently. All in all, it seemed pretty slapdash, was a waste of my time and a disappointment.

Michael Pitt can't act PLEASE make him stop trying!

Michael Pitt can't act PLEASE make him stop trying! He is absolutely horrible - if his last name weren't Pitt he would have been blessedly out of a job years ago.

And what's up with his bizarre diction in this film? What kind of accent is he trying to imitate? He doesn't even look natural simply sitting and for the love of God someone get the boy some lip balm!

The book was fabulous - the film is a waste of celluloid and only encourages Pitt to continue seeking work as an actor as opposed to something useful, like a job as a waiter... which I probably wouldn't believe him capable of either!

the horror is -people have been exposed to this crap
15 August 2006
I simply can't believe how bad this movie was, but what really irritated me was that friends, family members, cast and crew were obviously the only people commenting on this flick in the guise of the "unbiased masses". I (used to) come to IMDb in order to be better informed when choosing a film to see, rent or buy – but I think it's high time IMDb started ensuring, at least one or two, unbiased and intelligent reviews. Perhaps an on-staff or free lance reviewer – maybe a link to responsible reviewers. The "reviews" of this film were clearly written by people involved with the film and or its cast and crew. Due to the bias, I wasted an hour and a half of my life, not to mention the spondole needed to pay for this ka ka. The premise actually had promise, unfortunately this film was execrable! The director should be fed to the protagonist piecemeal. The actors were quite clearly "acting". The camera people, in no way to be confused with "cinematographers", should be forced (clockwork orange style) to view the frames from 42:23 – 42:50 mins ad infinitum, the camera stays focused center but James moves to the left and we are all left staring at a dung orange colored wall and James's "evil eye". As for the make-up, I've seen better on crack whores. The script "writers" should be forced to renounce their membership in the Writers Guild of America (WGA), if, for no other reason than writing such drivel as: when Kelby walks into James' home for the first time James: "I'm afraid the life of an accountant isn't as glamorous as you might have thought" Having said all that, I'd like to say this: I am one of the most easily frightened people on the planet… this flick didn't frighten me a bit!

a porn film without the sex
8 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
The character Amy (could not have been performed any worse by a house plant) is commissioned to do a series of photos for a new exhibit and must show "pathos"; what results is more aptly described as pathetic. Imagine asking your kids aged 8 - 10 to come up with a script and they'll do better than this! There is absolutely no motivation for her to become a serial killer but hey motivation is most assuredly NOT a prerequisite for this flick! This movie is as well scripted and acted as your average porn flick... so basically it's a porn flick without the sex... whose brother/sister/boyfriend/girlfriend made this flick? I can't imagine anyone actually wanting to see this unless they were directly related to the makers or the actors. This is 1 hour 23 minutes and 23 seconds of my life that I will never get back! PURE KA KA !
