Two of Us (2020)
Solid zombie flick
I'm one of the ones who doesn't understand the hate directed at this movie. Some of the nudity seems a bit excessive, but beyond that, it's a solid zombie survival flick. I don't understand the negative comments about the filming quality as it seems to be competently shot. The zombie effects are also competent. The lack of dialogue has a plot explanation. Admittedly, the film has a slow pace and long periods of relative quiet which won't suit all tastes.
As I said, I don't understand the 1/10 reviews - I have seen many worse films that this, particularly in the zombie-horror genre. I'll call it a solid 6/10 even though I'm tempted to give it a 10/10 to correct for all of the unwarranted 1/10 reviews. Perhaps the main relationship being between two women is too much for some people to take?
If you can stand seeing a bit of female nudity and you prefer realism over nonstop action, give this one a chance.
Challenge to Survive (1977)
Barable for fans of survival movies
Called Survival Element in the UK.
Not bad for a 70s TV movie. One thing that it has going for it is the level of realism. Most survival movies make things far too easy for the hero, or add an action subplot to increase the tension. If anything, the story is a tad mundane, with a middle aged man reduced to the barest of survival levels.
I agree with the other posters that Shatner's part was extraneous. In fact, the film would have done better with less flipping back and forth, but I suppose that they had to maintain the screen time of the other lead actor. That and the occasional overly cute moments, drags the film down to a 4. Like most TV movies it was probably marred by an attempt to appeal to the widest possible demographic.
Might be worth a go for the dedicated survival film enthusiast if found cheap.
