Technicians failed, Stars shined!
8 February 2015
First of all the movie has a brilliant plot, when it enters into Raja Lingeswaran's flashback. But why the movie has such a low rating and box office reception you ask, i'll tell you.

The movie is well cast. Especially Vijayakumar, who does a great job.

The movie falls mainly due to poor direction, cinematography, music and pretty much every technical department fails in this one.

K.S. Ravikumar had a great story but overloads it with a lot usual masala stuff, making it a tough watch.

The stunts reminded me of "Man of steel", with a lot of flying and destruction. Totally cringe worthy.

The director tries hard to bring the style element in, but fails. Because first the movies like Baasha, Padayappa, Arunachalam etc.. set a baseline standard for Thalaivar. Then the bar was set even higher by Shankar's Sivaji with an even more stylish Superstar. KSR tries to bring all these style elements together, failing big time.

Another extremely irritating part of the movie being the portrayal of the heroines. A total Arunachalam-Padayappa rip off. Those kind of heroines were popular then. Times have changed, it's 2015 now and social situations have changed a lot. But the director sadly, is still stuck in the 19th century.

IN A NUTSHELL, I WOULD SAY: The movie would have been better with only the RAJA's sequence, where SUPERSTAR would shine as an ACTOR rather than just a style icon.

Rajini did so well in the RAJA half, it was brilliant by the actor.

And one thing i would criticize on the RAJA's sequence would be that they fail to show the Architectural difficulties of building such a dam.

Other than that the RAJA's plot was just sheer brilliance. Certainly a watchable movie which could have been better.

(Overrated I) Watch it only for Vikram!
20 January 2015
Prior to the release, the movie had immaculate hype for an "international quality" story line. Both from the director and the lead actor.

Vikram quoted this as his dream role and the best one he has done yet. The actor has put a lot of effort into the role, with not only the body transformations, but also with the incredible acting. But the real question is, was the story worth it? To me it's a NO!

Pithamagan, Sethu and Anniyan still stay to be the best of Vikram.

The story is something any 10 year old could guess.

STORY: A body builder and gym owner (Vikram) meets his crush, a TV model on a shooting set. Through a series of events Vikram is made to be a model by Amy. They eventually get into a relationship and become top models. Leading to jealousy and animosity, among the villains. There after it is a usual revenge story. Bad guy loses - good guy wins.

The movie has a lot of plot holes or should i say, factual errors. Mostly on the revenge methods.

MUSIC: AR Rahman fails in this one with his poor background score. No songs in the movie gets the fans dancing. But ARR saves his name with "Ennodu Nee Irundhaal" song, which is absolutely breath taking.

Cinematography: PC Shriram, nothing more to be said. The visuals from China are more than enough to show what the man is capable of. Brilliant.

Make UP & Art: Absolutely brilliant. 10/10.

In an interview Shankar, describes himself as "never disappoints". Sorry sir, but after watching films like Anniyan and Mudhalvan, you certainly did disappoint us.

The movie "I" is technically brilliant, but intellectually stupid.

A word to Shankar sir before your next movie, i understand your urge to take Indian cinema to the next level but please there is more to cinema than just graphics, it's called story and that is something you know better than any of us.

Please sir, we miss intelligent flicks like Mudhalvan and Anniyan.

Suseendran magic! Must watch!
6 January 2015
Suseendran proves himself to be one of the best men in the craft with "Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer". Suseendran's stories are never childish, it always shows a lot of maturity to it. And this movie is no different.

This could be the most realistic love story ever made. The movie shows the life of a couple, who's love goes out of their hands and ego steps in. The one liner may not be very pleasing but, trust me the movie has more to it than just that. The climax of the movie is extremely heart breaking and makes us think.

Only weakness is the song in the middle of the movie which is a bit boring. Oterwise, the actors were all brilliant, especially the female lead. Editing, cinematography, music, every department did their job exceptionally well.

But in my opinion it all comes down to the director, all in all it's a hands down director's movie.

GREAT MOVIE, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Failure!
4 January 2015
First of all the movie is just a failed rip off of 50 first dates, added with a lot of cliché sequences.

Poor acting, songs come off as irritating, jokes? better not say much about them. The main pair just doesn't work out and Aju Varghese in his routine role, still excels. The best of the box being Rohini and Lakshmi.

The movie falls down mainly due to the main emotion is not conveyed to the audience well. A good love story is made only when the audience feel a connection to the main characters, but here the audience are just lost with moving images.

I give it a 3/10, since nothing original or nothing interesting is served on screen.

Watch at your own risk.

Overall it's certainly not a face worth remembering.

Must watch!

POSITIVES: SCRIPT - DIRECTION - JAYASURYA

Strong, socially relevant script. A movie directed to excellence till the very end. Jayasurya an underrated actor who delivers something extraordinary every time he's on screen.

NEGATIVES: BGM - SCREENPLAY

BGM of the movie fails to emphasize the strongest quotes of the movie.

Screenplay dragged a lot at the end, takes a mono act like style at the end. But that could have been saved if the BGM was did well enough, it could have taken the whole movie to another level.

STORY:

A doctor's conflict with his conscience, which haunts him for the malpractices he's forced to perform by the greedy hospital management.

BOTTOM LINE:

A movie which en thrills and enlightens.
