A Trip to Infinity (2022)
If there's a transcript, read it, and use your time elsewhere.
It's a good thing this documentary doesn't have an infinite running time!
The first third/half based around mathematical infinity was ok.
But then they tried to discuss physical infinity and failed miserably.
Just turn it off after the math part, or better yet find a transcript and read it. There won't be that many words on it.
If they were trying to be enlightening, they failed.
This is a jumble of facts and half-points bathing in an 1 hr 19 min of artistic visuals, decent mood music, and chopped up interviews with mathematicians and scientists who get paid whether they accomplished anything or not.
If you're confused after watching the 2nd half of it, that is completely expected, since there is no coherent objective to the entire 2nd half except to fill the running time with something.
Don't Look Up (2021)
If would have been entertaining IF...
...all these STARS climbed out of a Ringling Brothers Circus clown car on a You-Tube video.
Watching them act WORSE than clowns in this movie was beneath their abilities, and degrading to clowns everywhere!
Nope (2022)
A modern old-time monster movie.
A monster (of a different sort) appears.
People fight it.
(spoilers) (no I'm not gonna say them)
The end.
I enjoyed it.
It's be nice if more creators ventured outside their common boxes and resurrected more of these old different styles.
Artemis Fowl (2020)
Can I give it NEGATIVE STARS?!? This movie is HORRIBLE!
I'm 20 minutes into the movie.
I turned it off.
The character Artemis in the movie, IS NOTHING LIKE the character in the book.
Same with ALL the other characters!
The story doesn't even TRY to parallel.
The world setting grabbed bits from the book, and parodied them.
THIS IS HORRIBLE!
The Good Place: Jeremy Bearimy (2018)
Funny episode, amazing prognostication!
Jason: "In Jacksonville I got a flu-virus named after me 'cause I kissed a bat on a dare!"
And separately...
Eleanor: "Yeah. In America everyone does whatever they want. Society DID break down. It's terrible and it's great!"
He shen (2017)
A very entertaining and well crafted show!
The story and dialogue is very thoughtfully woven.
The sets and details on the sets are meticulously crafted and beautiful to look at.
The acting is done well and enjoyable to watch.
If you speak Chinese (Mandarin) then you will probably enjoy listening to the dialogue.
You might have to rewind sometimes to catch the subtitles, but it is worth it.
And I like how they include a scene at the end with the credits, that is a nice touch.
The Good Place (2016)
The Good Show
I hadn't heard about this show until recommended to me on Netflix.
I'm not one to get hooked on "comedy"... but this show is not simply "comedy", it does a decent job "telling a story"... "drama".
Don't even begin to judge it based on its eschatology and presentation of the afterlife...
Because THAT is simply "the stage" for this show's stories.
If you are hung up and require correct eschatology... turn off your TV/computer and go to your self-approved place of worship/judgement.
I will recommend that you watch the show until season 2 episode 4... because whereas I liked the 1st half of season 1, the 2nd half of season 1 was not as good, but in season 2 episode 4 they flip that all around and the remainder of season 2 is great!
I am looking forward to watching season 3, and hopefully there will be a 4.
This is a fun show to watch.
Something "light".
The Orville (2017)
A light-hearted Star Trek with humor that pays homage.
Okay, so Seth wanted to make a "Star Trek" and he did. Yes it has his humor in it, lightly. (Nothing like the in-your-face of his cartoons.) What I like about it, is that he "out-Star-Treks" Star Trek by copying from Star Trek, and doing very well with the special effects and the details and the design. It is fun to watch, and see what they copied... and then to see them pull it off as good or better. They were respectful and thoughtful in the humor of ripping things straight from Star Trek. So hopefully Captain Mercer gets to fly for a while. I suspect it will be more "enjoyable" to watch "The Orville" than to be force-fed "politically correct" propaganda in "ST: Discovery".
Cave (2016)
I got lost in CAVE and...
Okay, so some movie website rated this as above average and I decided to watch it.
The dubbing SUCKED... the voice actors doing the dubbing SUCKED... And the on-screen chemistry between the actual actors SUCKED...
Obviously they TRIED to make a good movie... the filming was good.
But the story, as confusing and twisty as the CAVE they were going through and I stopped paying attention and got lost.
SPOILER...
At the end... when the guy got the blanket out of the back of the vehicle... wasn't that a foot in there? And he whistled the same ditty from Deliverance...?
And there was some blurb about CAVE2...
God help us...
CUBE was way more interesting than this, with better acting... Go watch that 4 letter movie that starts with a "C" because that was a good movie... CAVE is not.
Elementary: Folie a Deux (2016)
Worst episode ever! Season 5 episode 1... HORRIBLE!
OK... no spoilers... the whole episode is spoiled... rotten... horrible!
Seriously who wrote this? Are they writing more of season 5? If so, please DON'T!
This wasn't Sherlock Holmes... ...this was some guy who jumped to a conclusion at the beginning of the show, and emotionally stood by that conclusion without ANY logic the whole episode!
Suggestion... if you are going to write Sherlock Holmes stories... you have to use SOME LOGIC... SOME DEDUCTION... this episode had NOTHING!
It was so bad I decided to write this. Seasons 1-4 I enjoyed. I sure hope season 5 returns to something better written. Skip this one!
