The Whale (2022)
This is what art is really about. Thank you!
This is a heart-moving drama composed of a very short cast but incredible performance. Start your dazzling ride-joy of amusement from the leading role performance to the other leads with a slight intentional decrease in perfection down to the look on the delivery man, and yet all of them can't described as nothing less than just amazing.
This of course reflects on how great the story is, how well it's written, the direction, cinematography, and sound effects. All what you can ask for to restore your humanity and compassion if you forget about it.
This is why people go to theatre. This is what art is really about. Thank you!
WandaVision (2021)
This is not Just A Superhero Story
Aside from being a superhero in Marvel Universe, as we all know the weight comes with it, there is a deep notion in the story told here - loneliness. A simple feel of being alone that progress overtime to be something we could never recognize afterwards. The theme in in which this notion is introduced is very novice and creative but not really outstanding. Of course, Marvel quality of directions and effects is out of questioning. A big Salute to Bettany as Vision for his outstanding performance, then Olsen as Wanda, and kids then rest of cast. I appreciate projects that reflect our lives and forces us to second look what we maybe missing out. Therefore, I enjoy watching this one as I enjoy thinking about how lonely we or our closed ones might be.
Scenes from a Marriage (2021)
A Drama That Smack Reality Out of You!
If it wasn't too nude, it would be a gem of gems. This dark romance of reality will sink you deep in the drama of human complexity like you never had before. The story build up, characters growth, the script of art all were, on each alone, enough to give you a remarkable experience. Then comes direction and the amazing world class performance of Chastain then Oscar. This is a very unique, fascinating experience that exceeds entertainment. If it wasn't too much in porn and nude, it would be just perfect.
The Adam Project (2022)
Great one Reynolds! But It's time to get out of comfort zone
That's a very enjoyable film, especially for family time at the weekends. Everything is going in harmony with everything, the story, the script, performances, direction and cinematography. This movie is one of those you can't overdo it or it would be ruined. That's said, Reynolds is very good at what he do but you always feel like there's something more he holds inside. Yet, he choose to do what he used to do because he does very well. I hope that I see him do something different even if it is not his best self. BTW, face off joke cracked me in half.
Boss Level (2020)
The Fault in our Writers
Once again, this movie reminds you of the abundancy of just bad writers in our era. Here is the thing, the outcome of good directed movie and a bad writing is just pain. It's OK when one is better than the other, but seeing something have such gap is really hurtful. Why it's called Boss Level? Why? Script is written so bad that you see regret in eyes of the actors. Good action scenes, though.
I get why Grillo does such movies, but why Gibson?! Why?!
Had Al Tar (2020)
Amazing Insights Into The Saudi Society
I can't put in words how I feel while watching work. It's very honest, crafted, balanced, very good direction and writing, remarkable performances. This is what is Art supposed to be. But yet, I can't helped to feel unease as it reaches out to the contradictions that we live in, or used to be. Times simply change, more to the worse, perhaps. This change is well-portrayed in this movie. And I fear of how the society will be affected with it. I enjoyed this movie and I felt different as I fished it. I guess this is right feeling given my conservative culture.
Last, Saudi cinema is thriving very fast and worth to give it the chance to shine.
Signs (2002)
Thriller Master Piece of Shyamalan
It is very hard not to fall in love with a work of Shyamalan. The novity, the art, the script are all similar to enjoying the color of a painting in a museum.
Mel, Joaquin were of course great, but I have to take off the hat for Rory Culkin. Such performance in such age and time. I really wonder what happened to him.
The story is not that great, but the remarkable Shyamalan thriller style holds your breath on a plot you could guess.
Rashash (2021)
The leap We Were Waiting For
For a Saudi work, this is remarkable in many ways. Direction, Shooting of scenes, Performance of actors all are world class level. Story is astonishing and writing did a wonderful work in adaptation of a true story to the eyes of the audiences. I had a great time with this mini series. And I can't deny feeling proud about it.
Gunpowder Milkshake (2021)
Entertaining But a MISANDRIST a Little Bit
A very entertaining movie, if enjoy women slaughtering men. Very good direction, effects, and performance, given the script. Cinematography is very unique and it is applied perfectly. I adore this kind of mayhem. Every scene is a visual joy. Story is just the norm and you kind guess it after 5 minutes. Script is good and balanced with the plot but it just keeps screaming FEMINISM!! Rather than trying to give some depth to the story. A very enjoyable movie, though.
CODA (2021)
Very Moving Story and Performance
Such extraordinary story requires a top efforts from writing, direction and cast performance. And this movie exceeded my expectation in that. Very moving performance delivers this story to any heart no matter hard it is.
The Harder They Fall (2021)
This is not black or White, This is something new and better
Dazzling.. my head was dazzling the whole 2 hours in this movie. Where to start and where to finish in reviewing such a portrait of a movie. Everything is perfect here, direction, production, acting, script, soundtrack, OMG the soundtrack. The direction is genius and put every member of the cast in its place like a Lego model. This is a take of the best quality of coffee and then adding a little of thick milk to it, and here are your best morning coffee. This is a different style, different language of cinema. I think it deserve its own genre because it's not quit black and really white either. I wonder how long time shall pass till we see something similar.
Uncharted (2022)
Another Medorate Adaptation for a Legend
My hopes were not high for this one from the start as movies creators fails continually to reach the expectation of gamers in games adaptation. This is one of these examples. Everything was just moderate giving the huge budget and big production names involved. Writing is way below expectation followed by characters build up and development. I just want it to be over as soon as possible.
House of Gucci (2021)
Below Expectaions
It was good movie but long for no clear reason. It's not like there were a lot of events or twists. And yet, it feels like it was rushed at the end. Writing the script was lame, honesty. And this is the major issue in this movie. It would take less than 6 if it wasn't for the good acting performance of the cast.
Hillbilly Elegy (2020)
That's why we like Movies
The Amazing play of Amy Adams & Glenn Close is breath taking. Talking about new ground of drama here, something reminds me of Glass Castle but way better and deeper. Those two gave us a pure dose of drama that we might easily get addicted to its taste. The rest of the cast was very good too, no exceptions. A very heart-touchy experience that resurrect hope that lost in our daily struggle to fight the demons of our blood and how we define ourselves. Thanks to the crafty script writing & direction, all stars on this work shine as bright as they could.
I recommend this for Family. This is what art supposed to be, teaching us about hope in life, reality of living, and what maters the most, family.
Finch (2021)
Tom Hanks the Legendary, one more time
I have to start with the amazing acting of Tom Hank as the only human face in the movie. So all or most of what I felt was because of him. Caleb and even the dog were very good. Hence, a Salute shall be paid to the director. Blot is not great although the story and script were very crafty and balanced between slight comedy and hardcore drama moments.
This is a good day. I've seen several very good shows in a row.
Castlevania (2017)
Please don't End Now!
This is a GEM. The story building was not strong in the first season, like they wanted to see how it rolls first. But, then the characters, production, story and the epic fight scenes force you to cling to it more and more as the seasons roll in. When I just finished the last episode, all that I could think about is what happens next. The depth of every character, the twist of story, love and betrayal and the meaning of individual's life, I can't say any less than this show was remarkable. And again the epic master-piece engineering of the fight scenes, It was insane. Netflix are not holding back, at all!!
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Holding Memories, letting them go
What a fabulous adventure of memories in MIND. Although the production seems simple, direction and acting hits the roof. Why I didn't see this gem earlier? Jim Carey is proving himself as one of rare talents of our kind. The rest of the actors were amazing too.
The script writing is so simple but strangly perfect to the plot and fits oddly to the story.
This is an piece of art to keep in the vault of cinema.
Detachment (2011)
A gloomy sad scope from The Reality of Education
If only the writing was a little just little better, this movie was going to be just perfect. This is what I really hate in movies like this, a truly gem that need to be cut properly to show its true meaning and colors.
Come Play (2020)
Nice Spooky Entertainment
Not a piece of art obviously, but I had a very good time on this one. It was very good for a horror gender and I enjoyed the frightening pace that arose from the beginning of the movie. The consept of Lary it self is unique and it's implementation on tech was done very well too.
Totally recommended.
Trauma Center (2019)
Bruce Willis is falling!!
I honestly watched the movie out of respect to the legacy of Bruce. As I watched him in this movie, the memories from Sixth Sense and Die Hard franchise haunts me on every second of this one. The movie worths 4/10 in general aspects. Bruce on the other hand worth 0/10, which makes me feel bad for production company for investing on his name. Bruce might be hard to work with as some may say, but acting poorly demolish the name of Bruce Willis in the 1st place. I understand when remarkable talents work on bad projects for a reseason or an another, but in this 4 stars movie, Bruce Willis was clearly the weakest link. This is just SAD!!
Mulan (2020)
Disgrace to the Legend
It is not even comparable to cartoon movie by Disney. Big actors involved in the project but that didn't add much to the story nor the script. I can't deny the efforts made in direction and production but still as a watcher the story or at least the plot is what matters. Any thing else came later and this project failed big time in that
