The Tourist (2022)
Who is Elliot Stanley
All the ways we define ourselves will be stripped away by illness and the dying process. Now... who are you?
Elliot is on a quest to discover who he is and every episode leads you to think we know who he is or once was, but by the end of that episode, we get thrown for a loop!
I was definitely intrigued by the entire 1st season and gasped when I read there is definitely a 2nd season on the way.
This show kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. All thou this is a thriller, it does have some humor and psychological elements to it.
I can't wait to see the next season and find out in more depth who Elliot really is and how he got wrapped up in this mess.
Maggie Moore(s) (2023)
True Crime turned Comedy?
Maggie Moore(s)? I think the writer of this dreadful dramady spelled Molly Morris wrong.
Capitalizing off of a another familiar story is just sick. The families of Molly Morris(s) never got the closure they deserved. The murder of these two women have been left cold since 2002.
Hopefully the director will contribute to the search of their killer and help solve this decades long cold case.
For those who don't have a clue what I'm talking about, you can listen to the podcast or even do a Google search on the women who were actually murdered.
Again, this film is disturbing and distasteful and should have never been considered for television.
Reptile (2023)
The Departed 2.0
Del Torro is a legend. Ageless perfection. Alicia, also ageless perfection and I love seeing her on screen again.
Reptile gave off The Departed vibes, except far darker with more twists and turns.
A classic tale of "smart cop vs the greedy criminal cops" slowly unfolding subtle clue's in every scene, eventually revealing the true suspects. A heart pounding build up to a very shocking ending.
While most of the actors seem like they were born to play these parts, Timberlake just looked lost and out of place. While his character was important, his acting didn't leave me in awe like the others.
Otherwise, a great movie and worth the watch.
SAS Rogue Heroes (2022)
This isn't my typical genre, but wow!
I tried the 7 day trial for Epix, now MGM+ mostly because I had heard about the creepy suspense horror show called From. So good by the way!
I was looking for a new show to binge and this isn't something I would typically watch.
The first 10 minutes had me hooked!
This is a fast paced, quick whit, drama/comedy.
In the dessert, this group of war heroes are not following any rules, and are far from being the typical, obsequious military types. You have British, Irish, Scottish, and Australian veterans tackling the same fascist regime but with WAY more flair!
Great actors, action packed, and great banter between the soldiers. 10/10 would recommend!
Kaleidoscope (2023)
Not an original but worth watching
I viewed this in the order it was presented and got through the time jumping just fine.
When something big happened you were still left wondering what the outcome was.
So it was a bit suspenseful and a mystery until you watched another episode to learn the fate of a character. Most of the characters don't get a whole lot of background moments but the main characters are fully developed and that's enough to get you to the end of the show.
I figured out the big "revel" pretty early on and wasn't surprised when I was right. It's a typical modern "Robin Hood" and "Oceans 11" movie.
I did pay attention to the details more because of the non linear approach, and sort of chuckled when two of the main characters decided on a prison break. If you listen closely Leo asks if Stan got his Dumass. And then he hands him the book called The Count of Monte Crisco, which is a book about a prison break. If you're a fan of the Shawshank Redemption, you'll understand completely!
Bad Sisters (2022)
How refreshing!
This show was absolutely brilliant. I adore Irish and Australian television series.
Sharon Horgan is an amazing writer/actor and I have yet to find anything of hers that I dislike.
Hulu also has a comedy with her in it called 'This Way Up'. Vivacious humor that spreads like wild fire!
Bad Sisters reeled me in from the first minute. This is definitely nothing like I've seen before.
We all have a "prick" in our lives that we loath. But JP sent these women over the edge and they will protect their sister at any cost.
Along the way you see each sisters mortifying encounter with the prick and the reason he needs to go to the "timeout resort".
I laughed, cried, and felt their pain along the way. A sisters bond is unbreakable. And the theme song and credits were brilliantly tied into this whole masterpiece!
Watch with your whole family, it's the most unadulterated show I've seen in a long time.
Enjoy!
Kærlighed for voksne (2022)
A Women Scorned, but Better
"Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor hell a fury like a women scorned."
And that's the best summary I have for this wickedly good movie! If you enjoy Harlan Coben and Netflix's adaptations of his books, you will really love this. (Safe, The Innocent, Gone for Good, Stay Close)
I am a terrible person to please when it comes to movies. I hate 90% of the movies everyone raves about. But if you like plot twists, and enjoy reading psychological thrillers, I can't imagine you'll hate this.
The world has been very chaotic lately and Danish, British, and Australian shows tend to
give better entertainment value than the boring political, woke non-sense Hollywood puts out.
If you want to watch a solid movie, with twists and surprises, this is for you.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
The Map was recorded on Camera the whole time
Half way through they are mad because Micheal threw the map in the river/creek. They keep walking in circles and the whole time I'm thinking "you have a digital footprint of the map.............in your HANDS"! They recorded the map on camera 17 minutes in. Why didn't they go back and watch the video of the map they recorded?
I first watched this movie in High School 1999. It was spooky but NOT scary. The ending was a abrupt and could have been left up to interpretation.
Now I've watched for the second time and I'm actually just as confused as I was 22 years ago. Several clips you can hear the low rumble of a plane in the background. Why didn't they follow the river down stream. Why not set the camera out in the woods and record while they slept.
Queen of Versailles Reigns Again (2022)
Biltmore Estate? Have they forgotten?
The Biltmore Estate in NC is over 178,000sqft.
Not sure what she is trying to accomplish, but the Gilded Age ended 100 years ago.
This is so tacky. I can't imagine having that much money to spend on non-sense. Especially in this AWFUL liberal economy.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Ignore the Bad reviews
Why do the book snobs always think the adaptation is bad? Your reviews are far worse than the wine snobs. Did Hollywood pay you to write the distasteful comments.
This show was a little slow but the episodes are gaining speed. I do not care for fantasy, but this has me wanting more. Dive in and see for yourself.
Killing Eve (2018)
Psych Thriller
I love the show. INTRIGUING! Someone wrote that this was sloppy writing because there is no background on the characters. That's not true, if you pay attention you have everything you need. Eve is a MI5 investigator but she longs for more in her life, something trilling and something that gets her heart thumping. She secretly loves psychopaths, she wants to know how they work and why. It's a hobby of hers.
Villanelle is the psychopath. She has sociopathic tendencies. She mimics emotions because she has no empathy and we see her continuing to adapt to her surroundings (smiling with the child in the ice cream shop, laughing like the lady on the radio). That's what is odd and interesting about her character. Her drive is to kill people because she easily becomes bored with every day mundane tasks. They will become each others next obsession!
