The Empty Man (2020)
Started good, but then turned into a boring detective movie.
The opening sequence was great and really good. Had drawn me in, curious about everything going on..... but then after that opening sequence we cut to the rest of the movie... and well it was a bit of a bore. Didn't have a lot going for it. Wanted a horror movie but felt more like I got a boring detective film. There are some fantastic ideas in the film, and some interesting concepts, although over all it just felt as if it wasn't executed to the best of what it could've been and falls a bit flat.
If you got nothing, then you could throw this on and give it a go, but I was disappointed by the film.
Oppenheimer (2023)
It has it's moments, but it's a bit slow
Big Nolan fan here, but I was overall disappointed in the film, I think I had too higher expectations going into it. The film had some absolutely amazing moments in these short spans which I loved to bits...and then would revert to a slow movie where the pacing wasn't great. The film felt like it dragged a little to fill up the 3 hour runtime.
That being said, the acting was phenomenal and use of special effects over visual effects was great to watch. The soundscape is just what to expect from a Nolan film, with a good soundtrack and great sound effects. I would recommend watching the film with a good sound system for the best experience. I really wanted to love this movie, but just was uninteresting in some area's of the movie.
No Time to Die (2021)
Most James Bond film out of all of them
This bond film pays respect to all the things that make James Bond, James Bond.
The gadgets are back and done in a way that they are campy and cheap.
The villain is great. And feels like a modern version of a Bond villain.
Jackie (2016)
Very slow, boring and depressing film
This film was very slow for me, and I kept wanting it to pick up, to which I never felt it did.
Jackie was just an unbearable character to watch, and that being said, I don't know what the real Jackie was like in real life, so I can't comment on if it was factually accurate.
Now it's hard to make a movie about a wife who lost her husband not be depressing, but this was just so depressing I didn't even want to finish the movie.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Not a fan of Marvel movies but enjoyed this
This film felt refreshing and didn't feel too much like a marvel movie. Felt like I was just watching a mythological modern film.
I had a good time watching it. Only downside was some of the CGI felt very rushed at some points. But Iwas willing to overlook it as I think it is worth the watch.
The Guilty (2021)
Doesn't go anywhere... literally
Jake's character doesn't come across as a believable person who works as a 911 operator.
His character is annoying and frustrating to watch. Jake's performance is none shy of amazing. That being said, if he acted as a real 911 operator it would've been a very boring film.
The film went no where for me. It had good twist and turns. But I was hoping I would see more than just the same 4 walls of the room.
Overall it is an average watch.
How to ting ting yang rai mai hai leua ter (2019)
Very slow and boring
The film has great cinematography and looks great. But sadly it was too slow for me, with some scenes/shots been dragged out too long.
Stowaway (2021)
If you're willing to look past the Flaws, it's a great film!
First of the movie is shot phenomenally. Visually it looks amazing, from the set design to the VFX.
It's disappointing to see so many bad reviews on this film. Most the bad reviews nitpick at some of the inaccurate scientific elements of the film. Is the film 100% scientific? No. Does the film try its best to be scientific? In some areas, yes. Will the film make more sense if you know about space travel? Probably.
If you are willing to look past the inaccuracies then you will enjoy this movie if you're an avid space fan. It is a fictional film, that drives a good and interesting narrative. If you want a realistic film then I suggest Apollo 13, but this is a good film.
You Should Have Left (2020)
Starts Very strong
Brilliant concept and starts off phenomenal. Built suspense well.
Unfortunately the ending kind of pulled the movie down for me as I wanted to give it a 7.
I still enjoyed it, and it is definitely a movie you should check out if you got nothing else to watch and enjoy your psychological horrors.
