San ti (2023)
TEDIOUS! Ep.21: Protagonist FINALLY clues in!
This whole story is about aliens, but you have to trog through 21 episodes until the main character even learns about them! It's ridiculous. Most of the backstories are not useful at all, I mean 3 episodes dedicated to a mathematician who was neither interesting nor pertinent to the plotline... and half of the episodes are like that. They could have easily cut down the lead up to episode 20 into 10 episodes, and still keep all the good stuff that's interesting or pertinent . It's like the director is getting paid by the episode, not by the audience engagement.
And since it's made in China that's probably exactly what happened.
Look, if you've not watched it yet, first look at the individual episode ratings here on IMDB, then don't watch the episodes with lower ratings (only watch about 10 of the first 20), until you get to episode 20. Thankfully, you will not miss anything important, and if you think you did... don't worry...there's so much repetition that it's like beating a horse to death. You'll catch up. Plus you'll save yourself of about 7 hours of really tedious backstory that's neither interesting nor pertinent in the log run.
The rest of it is awesome.
The Terminal List: Reclamation (2022)
Journalist seemed okay about the 'blind study' argument
Made me so angry. Ruined the episode for me. A blind study doesn't keep everyone in the dark about what might be done or what the potential consequences are The journalist heard the second defence's bogus argument and let it stand and just kept silent as if the idiot writers think that justified what the secretary of defense did. Furthermore, later on, just before the journalist laid into hershe said in a way that it was justified based on that faulty reasoning, but then said it wasn't, kinda. It was lame.
The rest of the episode was okay, but huge things like that wher something incredibly wrong and even criminal is glossed over as being okay or justified are not okay. Made the entire thing fake to me, or at least made the journalist seem like a total idiot.

The Last of Us: Endure and Survive (2023)
Why cut your palm
All directors make this choice. It's such a stupid place to choose to exchange blood. Best place is top side of forearm (topside when shaking someone's hand), gets the least rubbing during day to day living (or sleeping).
Other than that this episode is the bomb. It's also the first time where I felt like, yeah, this would be an awesome level in the last of us vido game. Excellent story based plot ... Did a great job of making you root for the main characters and not feel too bad when the "bad guys" get killed as they seemed to have it coming. In truth they didn't... It takes great directing to be able to do that.
Raising Dion (2019)
Oh my. Season1 was great, Season2 a children's show??
I'd give S1 an 8 and S2 a 1, so the whole thing gets a 4.
They basically turned the thing into a Disney-type sitcom like Wizards of Waverly Place, except without the laugh track. No, not even that mature. It's insanely bad, unless you're like an 8 yr old boy, except it has romance and such ... So I don't know who this show is for, to be honest. We had to turn it off after 3/4 of S2:E1. We only had 10 more minutes to finish the first episode and I just couldn't.
Turns out it was originally based on a comic book, and they made the comic writer the producer or director (something like that) of S2. Apparently comic book writers should stay comic book writers. Go figure.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
Like satire, without the funny parts
I love satire. I love dark satire. But to be satire you actually have to take it to th next level, or it's just a weird drama. I think I might have enjoyed it more if I watched the girl in the window first, but I'm not going to subject myself to that tripe just to enjoy this more. I loved all the naked gun series, things like hot shots, etc ... I never watched half the shows they were based on and it didn't matter because the satire was funny enough that you didn't have to. Don't look up came out same time as this ... That one they did right. This, no.
Manifest (2018)
Moron writers, but a fun premise
Cool premise, some great actors and some lame ones, written by screen writers who don't have a clue about what makes a rich and fulfilling marriage (which seems like a weird thing to say about this show except in this first season a ton is about what makes a good marriage and Hollywood is playing the tired trope that you only have one soul mate and you should divorce if you think you found it outside your marriage). But it's a great and fun premise and I'm looking forward to finding out about the government's involvement and the forces at play. And when do they start having superhero powers because really they need to gain superhero powers. Just kidding, but maybe a little bit of telekinesis and other mental powers would be cool for getting revenge on the rotten dirtbags.
Paradox (2009)
Another Promising British Show Ruined by Idiosyncrasies
British shows are so infuriating, and this is no exception. The plot is great, the production values excellent for a tv show, the actors really giving it all, but the characters are atrocious presumably because the writers think that people who act nothing like normal people are interesting. I don't know why British writers do that, but it seems endemic to their industry. I think it has to do with trying to be original or something, but it really just makes their art awkward and seem unauthentic.
Condor (2018)
Great 1st season, not so much 2nd season
Has become too formulaic, too many tropes that simply don't ring true, the characters aren't likeable anymore, and it seems like intelligent dialogue has been largely replaced with the F-word. Won't be finishing this season.
The Rookie (2018)
Amazing if it weren't for the atrocious music and sound engineering
The music this last season sounds like bending metal drums and cats being tortured, and it's so loud that I have to strain to hear what they are saying. Look, I get that they thought making the music more edgy (or whatever that pure trash is supposed to be) might make it more exciting but that only works if the music is (1) listenable, and (2) not competing with what's going on. On half of the action scene we just mute it because it's so grating. Does not make it more intense. Just makes it annoying. A ton of the music is just very very very poorly chosen.
Undone (2019)
Turns out she was just crazy?!
Shesh, to think if all the other stuff I could've done instead of wasting all that time building up to an extremely disappointing if not insulting ending. And I was going to give this high marks.
Another Life (2019)
Save the earth using the most immature primadonas from earth
Really writers? Do they have an iq test (minimum of 88) you must fail to qualify for this job?
Designated Survivor: #makehistory (2019)
Now with gratuitous booty-pumping action!
What, they can do it complete with naled bodies thrusting and grunting, and we're just supposed to call it sex? Hey if I was Hollywood that gives me a license to do far more than call it what it is, and get accolades as a result. Tasteful? No. Progressive? About as progressive as doing your nastiest business in public. Look, imho it's bad showing any naked intercourse mechanics on TV, and though it may not be on public airwaves it's viewed by just as many adolescents. Suddenly making the sex partners gay men doesn't change that fact regardless how progressive you are on the issue.
Designated Survivor (2016)
Liar Kirkman an "independent"? Ha!
He was in season 1 and 2, but as a bona fide true independent I take great offense at the season 3 president calling himself an independent. I love democrats and I love liberals, I'm just not one like I'm not a Republican. We independents are beholden to no agenda and we tend to see value in between the extremes, and usually closer to the middle of those extremes. Go ahead and turn Kirkman into a liberal Democrat but sheesh ... Call it what it is. Yeah, and the F bombs were so clearly forced they all broke the 3rd wall. And I stopped watching when the producers decided to teach me in the fullest graphic detail how gay men have intercourse, thrusting and grunting for full effect. What did that add to the story? Apparently Keifer prefers that to quality storytelling (star power like that you know he's shadow directing this thing).
Lethal Weapon (2016)
Love Season 3. Broaden your horizons, Clayton fans. Chemistry smemistry.
Clayne deserved to be fired. Great actor, but mean people suck.
It's a completely different show now, but I really like it because you know why? Because before it was a show about guys for guys that was super good. Now it's a cop show for anyone that's still pretty good. Very different, but still enjoyable, at least for me, but also more for my wife. A lot more laughs, and still plenty of action. I like watching shows with my wife. She wasn't interested in the show before, and now she is. So yeah, it's a bit of fluff compared to before, but really how much angst do you need in your life? I've got enough already. The show is more fun now, and Scott's not bad. Now is Wayan's last season apparently ... I hope they put someone good in his place and keep it going. Let it morph again, and if the new one ain't for me, so what? I appreciate that they're reinventing themselves on the odd chance that the new thing reaches a new audience keeping the genre alive.
The Last Ship (2014)
This season infinitely better than last season, not often for a show to go good, bad, then good again.
It's probably really not worth an 8, but I'm just so impressed that they actually made this season so much better than last season. Boy, that was a stinker. I only started watching this one because nothing else was on. What a pleasant surprise. To be honest though ... super cheesy, but I'm okay with that so long as I go in expecting it to be that way. Totally unbelievable, but honestly I find pretty much all shows are especially the one's everyone else says are believable.
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (2016)
Like the Christopher Eccleston version of Doctor Who
If you liked the Christopher Eccleston version of Doctor Who then you'll probably love this. Dirk's character is as annoying as they come. What's this insatiable need for BBC producers to make the lead characters frenetic and aloof idiots? They're not misunderstood geniuses. They're just idiots on speed. Nothing more.
Another reviewer put it perfectly "All it really lacks to be totally horrible is a laugh track, and I can't imagine how they missed that."
Let's hope they take a page from the Doctor Who series and fix that main character.
Elijah Wood's character is well written and very well done.
Oh yeah, and as I understand it it is not faithful to Adam's book at all ... this doesn't bother me, but I'm sure it would if I'd read the book. Fix Dirk's character though and I'll be a fan. I only watched the first episode though and will only watch it again ... maybe will wait until the next series to see if they get Dirk right. As I understand it those who felt as I do said Dirk doesn't get any better ... at least not yet.
Zoo (2015)
Please "off" all the characters. Now. Except for that African dude.
We watched last season, first because it sounded interesting, but very quickly learned that the writers were just doing a social experiment on those watching to see how unbelievably stupid they could be (with the so-called science) while maintaining a fan base for the show, despite horrendous acting, and even worse dialog.
Well, it turned out that they could be amazingly stupid. By the second episode of that 1st season the so-called "science" was so horrendously unbelievable, defying all reason and logic, that we watched our of pure comic relief. How can anyone make this sort of tripe up ... it was hilarious ... and even more funny since it's obvious the writers actually think it's believable ... well, yeah, for someone who's a complete moron.
If you ever saw "Scorpion" ... yeah, that kind of stupid ridiculously impossible phenomena posing as science (like that guy grabbing onto a 90mph train, from a running start). Or like a tiny ant generating enough electricity to kill a person, which ant you can only kill by shocking it, while it's inside of a person, who can survive the ant-killing shock, but not the shock coming from the ant.
Enter this season (and amazed it was actually renewed) expecting more intelligence-insulting :science" ... and was not disappointed, which schtick had lost it's comic-relief factor ... also the writers decided this season to make every actor an outrageously immature diva. It's like watching "Big Brother", except without the fun unpredictability of watching insane people. No unpredictability. Instead everyone is the same 1 dimensional character: an angst ridden diva with a truckload of emotional baggage and one objective: to be understood, and then to ... aw forget about understanding each other. There's only one character really worth saving ... this African animal refuge guide.
Every other piece of dialog is exactly what you'd expect to come from a cast of spoiled rotten babies each with a huge chip on their shoulder and something to prove. No character depth, no character variability, no interesting relationship dynamics ... incredibly boring.
I can't watch anymore. I despise these characters. I can't help but cheer when the animals to kill one of them (except for the African guy, he's a keeper). And these are supposed to be the good humans. The animals should win, leaving just the African guy and some similarly multi-dimensional woman (of which there are none in the current cast) to repopulate the planet.
Killing Chloe was a good start ... now can the animals kill the rest of them? Right now? I'd watch that.
Food Matters (2008)
Look closer at the reviews
Such a bimodal distribution in the reviews ... wonder why? Look at the content. Those who are for it, are totally for it, and in every case it is because they have personally experienced what Saul is talking about.
Those against it are totally against it, abusive in fact, have never .. . let me repeat: NEVER tried Saul's recommendations. Also, in general they are squaking out of being completely offended because their pride has been hurt by Saul's accusations. Can you say "biased"?
Especially with regard to vitamin therapies. For every peer review with original data (not trumped up "comprehensive reviews" which is a ploy to cherry pick data to fit your desired outcome) ... original data that shows no benefit from IVC you will find NONE that followed the recommended protocol that would achieve a minimum of millimolar concentrations of vitamin C in blood serum. In otherwords ... they're all underdosed.
For those properly dosed (usually requires a minimum of 10g/dose of intravenous vitamin C) EVERY study has found at a minimum significant quality of life improvements from energy, to pain management, to organ function, to attitude and wellness for most of the respondents. There are at least 4 dozen peer reviewed studies all with original data, that show such findings ... and that's quality of life ... if you want to actually kill cancer with vitamin C you need even more. At least 50g per dose.
Not increasing blood levels of vitamin C up into the millimolar range has been a very effective way to create a study that pretends to show that Vitamin C is ineffective at killing cancer. Also, the convenient neglect regarding quality of life improvement from vitamin C is also very devious by those more interested in saving the reputation of their medical comrades than in looking deeper into the data to see how horribly underdosed their "proof" is, or how all the test subjects were stage 4 metastatic chemo resistant patients in their coveted anti-vitamin C studies.
Meanwhile many oncologists, not all mind you, will push experimental oral chemo drugs costing $10,000 per month to buy someone an extra %15 longer survival, whereas PROPER-protocol (emphasis on "proper) IVC (intravenous vitamin C) in general extends life far further for 1/8th that cost plus imparts a ton of quality of life improvements while the oral chemo makes people feel like crap and want to die.
These are the facts. And FYI .. that crap about super high dose vitamin C causing cancer ... beyond laughable. All the actual tests prove the opposite: higher dose more selectively kills cancer (while strengthening the normal cellular matrix).
