Barefoot (2014)
Ridiculous
I see why they ended this moving unresolved. If it had been resolved it would not be a happy ended. We have a guy that breaks his probation to go to his brother's wedding to get money from his dad to pay off his debt to a gangster that gets a sheltered recluse woman to pose as his girlfriend. Police chase, assaulting officers (?), obstructing justice (?), kidnapping (?), etc. We're supposed to believe that all his legal problems go away without him spending any time in jail? And she magically and easily adjusts to living a normal life and they live happily ever after?
Cheaper by the Dozen (2022)
Don't waste your time
A third remake? The only difference is the addition of heavy social/cultural agendas. Don't get me wrong, movies can be great vehicles for messaging, but using a "cute" Disney movie, remade remade for the third time, isn't the best choice.
The Princess & the Marine (2001)
Movie wouldn't have happened if release a few years later.
Meh acting, I mean you have Zac from Saved by the Bell. He couldn't act then, and apparently didn't learn anything over those many years.
I like true stories, so I can ignore some of the acting. However, the story is a bit of a Hollywood sham. This true life story is portrayed as some sort of Cinderela story. The true life story is not. The real Meriam was granted asylum in 2001 due to the fact it was too dangerous for her to return to Bahrain. However, she visits her family, in Bahrain, later that year. Oh, and also, they get divorced. In real life, they considered divorce after about one year of marriage. They finally made it official after about five years. Sound like a fairytale to you?
A California Christmas (2020)
Same romance recipe. Seen one, seen them all.
If you love the typical romance recipe of tension-passion-conflict-happy ending, you won't be disappointed. It's totally realistic that someone would completely change who they are in a week. It's also completely realistic that someone would instantly forgive someone they've known for a week. Not only forgive, but completely ignore it, and go on like it never happened. Are writers just lazy or is this the only story that people want to see? It's the same in every romance movie. One minute into the movie and you know the plot. You're only watching for the details to be filled in and to laugh at how ridiculous it is.
Superstore (2015)
How did this get such a high rating?
There are some great characters, and some of it is entertaining, but the two main characters are awful! The first season was decent, but the rest is just ridiculous. Some of it is just hard to watch it's so cringey. Are we supposed to be rooting for Amy and Jonah? The only thing I'm rooting for is for them to leave the show. It's a bit of a train wreck. Maybe that's why it got good reviews... people can't look away from an accident.
All American (2018)
Teen Soap Opera
Beverly Hills 90210 with a tiny bit of football thrown in.
As Dreamers Do (2014)
Pitiful Acting and Awful Dialogue
Warning, only watch this movie if you can stomach really bad acting.
The fact that IMDb gave this a 7.5 out of 10 will forever negate any credibility the rating has in my eyes. The storyline is fine, but the acting and dialog is terrible. I find it ironic that the story of the founder of a brand known for rich media and superb entertainment is portrayed in such a pitiful manner. I guess Disney didn't think it was worth the investment to do the film itself.
I'm not sure I would even recommend this movie for Walt Disney fans. It does a good job with the story, but the acting may tarnish whatever reputation he has in your mind.
