The Empty Man (2020)

A dark, moody movie full of creeping dread
7 September 2021
It's a solid , strange movie thick with an atmosphere of dread and weirdness. What's interesting is that this is from the mind behind some of the best DVD special editions like "fight club" and "master and commander" David Prior. It's thematically reminiscent of the games "silent hill" and "dead space" A great twisting and turning story with spectacular sound design and music which is subtle and foreboding. This movie needs to be seen with anyone with a passing interest in "cosmic horror" or "creepy" thrillers. I can't recommend this highly enough.

Nasty 80's panto
11 November 2020
I'd never seen this before. But as I've played GTA vice city, it was all too familiar. As a piece of 1980's cinema History.. it has its place. But that's about it. Pacino devours the scenery in every shot. The script by Oliver stone (on an off day) lets its melodramatic nastiness shine through. Tony is a detestable character and he does get his comeuppance thankfully. At 2hrs 45 it is overlong. I was rather relieved when it ended.

Lovely

An absolutely great show featuring the most amazing parts of Wales. The comedy chemistry between James and Jupp is rock solid. Not only funny, you learn a lot about hidden bits of Wales too. Fascinating and funny to boot!

Dripping with dread.
7 April 2018
Having known this was based on the infamous stage show, I was expecting great things. I wasn't disappointed. This film is an expertly crafted journey through the eyes of a Professor Goodman. A psychic debunker in the mold of James Randi. It's a portmanteau of 3 stories. Unsolved incidents of the paranormal, which Professor Goodman sets out to investigate. What transpires is the best spooky Film I've seen in a long while. It's downright chilling atmosphere will have you dreading what's about to happen on a number of occasions. I wear a smart watch with heart rate monitor. It spiked quite a few times during the film. Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson have knocked this out of the park. My only regret was not seeing their Stage Show this was based on. It must have been terrifying in person. I

Extraordinary..Quite unlike any time travel film I've seen..
12 March 2015
This movie is in a word.. Astonishing.

I knew it involved time travel, but that was it. I tried to see it in the cinema, but only 5 cinemas in the ENTIRE OF THE UK were showing it. And I live in sunny WALES. Undeterred, I hit the web to see if somehow it was on Blu, and it was! Luckily I have a multi region Blu player and I finally put this US Blu Ray in the player last night.

Oh my, as a blind purchase, I've never been so happy.

A truly special film for a number of reasons.

1. The acting is some of the best I have seen in a LONG time

2. The story is rock solid, with so many twists and turns it FLIES BY.

3. Leaves me wanting to watch it again and again.

It's incredibly difficult not to give anything away about the film as its best to go in blind to get the full effect of the story. I have to give plaudits to Sarah Snook. An amazing actress who had me in awe. You'll see why. (See, I don't want to give A THING away)

I am a bit of a time travel fan, so maybe this hit a home run for me more because of that. However, I watched this with my Wife, who is not a fan of the genre and she loved it.

This is a keeper this one. You WON'T be disappointed. Amazing.

Wonderful
8 March 2015
If you are a fan of Blomkamps work, this movie is a must-see. It deals with many themes and brings them all to a very hopeful conclusion. shartlo's performance as CHAPPiE is to be applauded. It reduced to me near tears at times, in a good way! As a father, some of the quieter sequences resonated with me in a way it might not in others. That surprised me. Yes, there is action, and just the right balance of it. Underneath the bullets and explosions is a solid story of the meaning of what life is and what it means. Great performances by all the cast and a rumblingly good score by Zimmer wrap this robotic tale up nicely.

Do yourself a favour and go watch this on a big screen. I can't recommend it highly enough.
