City of God is a story of a young man seeking refuge in a world that is full of violence and hatred through the lens of a camera. And I say "world" and not city because when you are watching this movie, it doesn't even seem like a real place in our world. It seems like a made up land that is full of unbelievable stories. But it is all based on a true story, which totally amazed me when i found it out at the end of the movie. The only down side was that the plot caught a hold of me and kept me hooked, reeling me in for a great climactic ending. But when i got to the ending, I was sort of let down because it didn't seem satisfying or to be what I had hoped and expected for. But that was before I realized it was all based on true accounts, and that was when i was completely shocked. All in all, the movie is great and is a fantastic way to expand your world, showing you a place that you thought couldn't possibly exist.

This movie has got to be one of the best in recent years. It totally messes with you mind and really makes you think. So many elements of the story make it interesting and while the story itself might be difficult to follow, it is one that will keep you amazed throughout the duration of the film. As I mentioned before, it is a little confusing at times, but the main plot is simple and easy to follow, yet completely blows you away. It has everything. Romance, comedy, action, dialogue, plot, and an end that is both satisfying but also makes you wanting more. And the moment with the paradox (those who have seen it will know what I'm talking about) made me actually geek out in the middle of watching it. I highly recommend it to someone with an open mind (no pun intended) or anyone who is willing to pause the movie every few seconds to take in all that is happening. It's great.
