the miracle of the hair...
23 January 2007
My mom introduced it to me, along with Silk Stalkings and the others mentioned.

The hair was done this way. They shot all the long hair biker sequences for several episodes then cut his hair and shot all the short hair sequences. She was of the opinion it was tied and tucked. Nice idea if he had short extensions put in to make it appear short, too much hassle. It could have been a wig too, but I did some close examination of the before and after. The hair did show his roots attached to his head and when he was in court his hair was not "padded" like that of lumpy wig wearers and the bike sequences showed the same uniform closeness of hair to head.

Excellent show, when are they going to turn it to DVD

the original, I swear
28 December 2006
I have seen all three of the Exorcist movies, now, and have seen the Exorcism of Emily Rose. I can say that exorcist is the original making of Emily Rose. The second movie was based on an actual event. Unfortunately they were also trying for a sequel to Linda's original. Anneliese Michel, the lady the Emily Rose was based on, was a German college student and died in 76. The Exorcist 2 was made, or finished in, 77. The plots to the two movies are so similar in ways it is not funny. The character of the person who was watching Reagan, I believe, represented the trial and jury. Metaphors can be an amazing thing. Yes, I think that this movie could have actually followed the life story of Anneliese Michel a bit better, but it would have strayed from The Exorcist thesis.

Really worth seeing.

If this were released in 1953 it would have given new meaning to the rating system, (G, PG13, etc). The acting was very good. Dakota, the girl that played the daughter, really stoled the show. I used to get nightmares as a kid from the aspects of movies like War of the Worlds, The Blob and Dr Who and the Daleks (1963, I hope they redo it), the whole aspect of the world being invaded by creatures from another planet really did not come to me as that unbelievable. Then life happened, I get night mares from it now. And now the same story this well done will be influencing my dreams with the same cast of characters (three legged creatures from another planet) coming to take over.

Suppliment

I notice that a lot of people have comment about how bad this movie is and the flat acting of Mr. Cruise. I have even read some people tell Mr. Spielberg to stick to the story line. For the situation, aside from sometimes thinking Dakota's screaming was a bit loud, everyone acted just fine. It was their character. I would like very much to know how a lot of other people would have handled themselves. The movie did have a few question mark items, like how the hell did they find a working vehicle so quickly. That and how some cameras worked while other things didn't. I firmly believe that the items that didn't work stopped working because they were on, the vehicles in the middle of the street, watches, etc, the SUV they found worked because it was parked and off when the attack happened. As for the story line I believe the original "War of the Worlds" like "Wizzard of Oz" appeared in newspapers as a story that people followed for kicks, sort of like a comic strip. There have been different versions of each book available for reading due to the editing differences of those that decided to join all the daily/weekly episodes together. The movie stuck to Mr. Wells' original thesis of a man running for his life, I read the book, it is sort of slow, really. But when it was originally written if the author was to be able to bring to words what was in the latest movie... But while everyone speaks vividly of the special effects and plot lines, no one has yet made a statement of the people being struck by the beams coming from the ship. That was a really cool effect, but probably already used in another movie.
