Everything's starting to make sense
14 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand the bad reviews with this show. Yes the show started in space, but it's obviously more about the consequences of that space trip and theories about what going to space could do.

That episode was SO GOOD because everything started making more sense (not that we didn't already know what was going on). Even some scenes like the friend stepping on the bunny where I told myself "wait... this couldn't make sense", well it actually did, since she was seeing herself and not her friend. Best episode yet and I can't wait for the last two. I'm hoping it doesn't end with more added questions than answers tho, but I fear it'll be the case.

The Fall of the House of Usher: The Raven (2023)

Absolutely insane.

I rarely write reviews here but seeing some of the bad reviews of the series as a whole p!ssed me off.

I think most people who didn't like it gave up on it in the beginning, because this was certainly a masterclass in acting and writing. This final episode was simply one of the most rewarding final episodes I've ever seen, my mouth was wide open for the entire thing. The revelations were handled so well and they just kept coming and Carla Gugino honestly deserves every award that exists. Every monologue was beautiful and full of poetry as it's come to be expected in a Mike Flanagan tv show at this point. Just beautiful.

This was absolutely amazing

I don't understand the reviews this season. I might misremember the other seasons but this was the best season to me. I cried at least 10 times which haven't happened in a while, it was fun, every character was well developed. And it was just pure unapologetic representation done absolutely well. And to the people who said that the final episode didn't feel like a series finale: I don't understand? Everyone had their storyline seemingly dealt with. Jean, her sister, Otis, Aimee, Maeve, Eric, Adam, Jackson, I loved evereyone's storyline and it was just beautiful to witness. I wish we could've gotten multiple more seasons with all that new crew but things always have to come to an end.

The doll is the movie
6 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Wasn't expecting a lot at first and had already heard it wasn't really a 'horror' movie. And to be honest, I don't really watch trailers or get excessive info about movies when I go watch them, I usually just check out a few reviews. I guess this allowed me to enjoy the movie for what it really was: a commentary on invasive technology with a super cool doll character who becomes sentient and starts killing people (honestly M3gan as a character is my favorite 'killer doll') and whose every move and word is spooky. I was obsessed with the way the doll was moving her body throughout the whole thing. She's the movie, she's why it's scary sometimes, why it's funny (the singing sequences were peak camp and some of the things she says too).

On the acting part, nothing too extraordinary but the child actress was the best performance of the movie, mostly for the part where she throws a tantrum in the car (I saw her in The Haunting of Hill House already and knew she'd be great).

As for some other reviews: y'all really can't suspend your disbelief for 2 seconds huh? Of course some stuff wouldn't happen the way it did in the movie in real life, that's why it's a movie. Maybe the company stuff and the aunt not wanting to raise the child and making a doll for that could've been brought better but that had no impact whatsoever on what the movie was trying to do. I truly spent a good time and enjoyed it and for what it's worth I thought it was better than Smile, which was a horror movie with a similar marketing campaign and who everyone apparently loved.

House of the Dragon: The Black Queen (2022)
Season 1, Episode 10

Excellent first season
24 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the episode before it aired since it leaked and I was kinda pissed to see all the annoying twitter book readers complaining about the few changes made to the story. First of all, the book is told in a way that makes it so we're not sure the events actually happened the way they did, which makes it easier for the TV series writers to have more freedom, and I think they did it marvelously. Apparently in the book Aemond is a full-on demon and he didn't kill Rhaenyra's son accidentally, he very much intended to do it. But I think it's better for it to be like it was in the finale episode, he's not just a big bad boy who does things without reasoning and this event is probably gonna weigh on him and bring him closer to the person that he is in the book (or not, and that's okay too). Now Daemon is apparently someone who loves his family very much in the book and who would never hurt them, but it's time to stop with the 'bad writing' allegations because Daemon's behavior in the show has been nothing but true to what we've seen since the pilote episode. He groomed Rhaenyra and killed his first wife, it's not shocking at ALL that he would be abusive to Rhaenyra. Anyways, all that to say that the writing has been very good throughout the whole season and that I loved it very much, can't wait to witness Rhaenyra's transformation in S2.

The Morning Show: The Interview (2019)

Speechless.

I have no words right now. I don't think I've ever cried THAT hard watching tv. One of the best season finales in the history of season finales. It was heartbreaking, nerve-racking and extremely powerful. The entire cast's performances were just...out of this world. I'm so happy this got renewed for season 2. I seriously don't understand why the professional critics haven't been praising this show as much as they should.

The person who gave it 2/10 because it's a "ripoff of the golden compass" is dumb af. Great acting. Amazing visuals. It's honestly perfect

Chambers (2019)
10/10
Slow paced AND great.
29 April 2019
So, I think it's my first time writing a review on here but maybe it's not. However, I've had enough of seeing this show being trashed by the critics everywhere. I almost didn't start watching it for that reason, and it turned out being great??? What I mostly don't get is that a ton of professional critics are citing the fact that it's slow paced as a reason for why it's bad. But since when does "slow paced" means "bad". If it was the case, The Haunting of Hill House, Castle Rock, and all other slow paced shows wouldn't have been a critical success. Anyways, Chambers has the cinematography, the actors' great performances, the originality and weirdness of the story. Go watch it and tell friends!! (since Netflix have a history of absolutely not promoting their good shows)

Don't listen to the incels
11 March 2019
I almost didn't want to see the movie after I saw its user note on Metacritic. But then I saw that the bad reviews were only given by white men who litterally invented stuff Brie Larson "said". She said something something about white men but it wasn't about this movie and it was definitely not "I don't want white men to see this movie". Litterally no one would say that.

Anyway, about the movie. I expected it to be bad with all the reviews I had seen, but it was as good as any other marvel movie. And Brie Larson did a great job. The cat stood out too, haha. So yeah. I made that review principally because I hate that people are just giving it a 0/10 because they can't deal with the fact that a woman is the lead character of a superhero movie.
