Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Still afraid to kill main characters
This fun, thrilling, and action packed adventure follows Thor, Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster tracking down the God Butcher. Excellent performances by Natalie Portman and Christian Bale whom both stole the show! The story pushes Thor and Jane back together but fails at the romance between them. Also, the movie seems to be afraid to kill off characters. I counted 5 times where I thought a character died but simply recovered by the next scene. On a good note, the mythos and action were ramped up as you would expect in a Thor movie! Post credit scenes paved way for future stories to be told. Overall, fantastic superhero movie with a couple of bumps in the road.
Trolls (2016)
Remember, it's a Movie for Kids
Trolls was a fun sing-a-long movie with an easy to follow plot. As an adult, the movie is very predictable and can be too dramatic in certain parts. However, this is an upbeat movie made for kids to just have fun with. If I had kids, I would definitely take my son or daughter to see this. Overall, not a movie for me but would be so much fun for my kids!
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Be Kind, you don't Know Everything
Out of all the universes where we could be anything, be kind.
This movie was extremely confusing even for the most brilliant people on this planet. I attempted to understand the entire plot, what was happening, and I was completely lost. But that's okay. At the end of the day.... You do not know everything about what someone is going through. Whether it be your Dad, daughter, or even a complete stranger, you can't even begin to comprehend. You're lost. I'm lost. So just be kind.
Amazing representation of characters, stunning performances, beautiful costume design, crazy transitions, and thoughtful messages all combine to make the best movie of 2022.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Messy but Enjoyed the Ride!
Jurassic World Dominion capitalized on nostalgia with many familiar dinosaurs, callbacks, and the old Jurassic Park crew. However, despite the fun and exciting new characters, dinos, and stakes, there is no more room for plot. The movie lacks in an organized story and has the characters stumble into exactly what they need or what they have to do next. Ultimately, it was a thrilling but messy movie with the most interesting parts being the dinosaurs.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
Its not about Fantastic Beasts Anymore
The Fantastic Beast Movies should have been about Newt Scamander and friends going on wild and crazy adventures where they run into or face numerous mythical beasts. Imagine Newt interacting with an infant Fluffy (from HP Sorcerers Stone) or taming a Hungarian Horntail. Unfortunately, the fantastic beasts are overshadowed by the Dumbledore VS Grindelwald conflict. However, the film contained stunning visuals and great character performances; but lacked the tension and pizzaz required for a final battle. Worth a watch but falls short with the fantastic beasts being cast aside for a plot that does not entirely deliver.
Us (2019)
Trailer was hype, but movie did NOT deliver.
If you bought tickets to see this..... be prepared to start the movie staring at rabbits for 2 straight minutes. During the entire movie I felt like I had no idea what was going on. I left the movie having more questions than answers. They didn't explain anything about the plot or characters. Honestly, it could've been a great movie but had long drawn out scenes and no explanations all for an ending plot twist that was less than stellar. Save your money.
