Spaceman (2024)
Thoughtful, Flawed, and Moving
I loved this movie, despite its flaws and early slow pace. It is thoughtful and caring, as too few movies are. It is imaginative, and full of feelings - sadness, joy, fear, depression, hope, awe, wonder are a few. Max Richter's score and end song are perfectly in sync with the tone of the movie. The special effects are what we expect, quite well done. Carey Mulligan seems to be drawn these days to playing the partner of troubled humans, and plays her part well. The movie is often solemn, and often playful, particularly playful in the relationship between Adam Sandler's spaceman, and the being who joins him on his voyage. Thank you Adam, and all others who aimed high with this movie, and for me, succeeded.
Somebody Somewhere: Mrs. Diddles (2022)
An ode to being human
Life can be hard. We all screw up. And we can still laugh and show one another mercy. So much of who we are and can be in one short half hour. This is the high mark so far of a show that is becoming one of my favorites all time.
