The Real Right Stuff (2020)
Watched it, like it, then could not watch it again thanks to Disney
Had a yearning to rewatch this because it so fascinated me with the footage. I know some complained it was not balanced with all the astronauts, yet it was still wonderful to watch.
Come to find out Disney has pulled from streaming which I don't mind but then give me a chance to buy it on a DVD or a Bluray option.
Is this America or is this some weird country where you find something you like and someone decides to no longer offer it...AT ALL.
CREEPY AND CONTROLLING. Like you no longer want to make money off of something that some enjoy?
All downhill now.
And since my review is too short, I will only say this: all movies should be offered to those who love them otherwise, why even bother.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
A MIRROR OF WHAT'S GOING ON TODAY
I loved the acting, the buildup and what I found fascinating as a women who has gone though many experiences...this is spot on for a certain percentage of todays male vs female...women being killed by their spouses for being too independent or vocal and even the loss of reproductive choice by men who made it happen along with second class females who support it.. This story resonates about so many who want women to be the perfect wife in a fantasy setting and yet so many women, know it's a fantasy and not what most of us want or are...and have to fight to escape. A total social setup for the future.
Elvis (2022)
LOVED THE WAY THIS MOVIE WAS FILMED.
I started watching thinking it would be the same old Elvis bio pic. So not what I thought it would be. I loved the camera angles, the pop, the ambiances of all the abuses of a young superstar, wanting to make it and being turned by money, money, money and fear, fear, fear.
Austin Butler was amazing and all the actors, hovered into a reality so unseen and unwielded in all the other bio pics. I'm STILL AMAZED.
Tom Hanks always continues to amaze me in everything he does and this is no exception. The pace, the unique views of deception....wonderful.
I also loved the connection between Elvis and the wonderful black musicians of that time: BB King, Little Richard, Big Mama Thornton and so many that were used by white musicians for gain.
I might come back down to earth in a few days...but this...BEYOND FURTHER WORDS.
1883 (2021)
Terrific writing, great acting and the gritty realization of life then...+++
I love the intrigue and the acting of the whole cast. I hate when Westerns are glamorized. Life then was hard and dangerous. This is what I love about how it portrays life's hazards without the softness of today or the regulations of earlier films on such matters. These people did not have the luxury of being in a well policed town or a controlled environment. I spent time as a wildlife fire fighter and I know the dangers of nature then if you add in the people who had limited boundaries...it makes for super storytelling. I love the gritty hardness of the characters and what they faced along with the blindness of people not used to the wilderness and the hazards while thinking they can make it on just doing it. Plus I love that some of the female characters had strong attributes as a tribute to women I knew who made it through tough times back in earlier day and the diversity of life then and now.... Super kudos to all....
One Night in Miami... (2020)
Wow....loved the depth of conversation
To imagine all these great people in one room, sharing their opinion, whether real or superfluous, is a realm of growth. Humanity, all trying to grow with such restriction and opportunity. It's like being the fly on the wall, regardless of your color, sex, or party. Truly humanity wins on this one...thank you for such a deep dig into all of us
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
I love the new storyline with characters from the past...FRESH
I love the new storyline with a different main character and a different future with three strong female characters and two blasts from the past. I love that Linda and Arnold are reunited but with a twist. So never expected the new twist on a super fun movie series and I've loved every bit of every one but this is my new favorite. I like the creativity, the blending of differences, the strong outcome and the never stop action. Thank you
Gisaengchung (2019)
A brilliant exposition on so many things
Finally got a chance to watch the best picture, director, screenplay winner: PARASITE and it's brilliant. Simple in it's beginning for a family wanting to find a living then a brilliant comedic lie to earn it and the complex aftermath it creates only to end in a mirage. South Korea nailed the want of every person that does not have and the blind ignorance of some who do...Highly recommended even with subtitles.
Aladdin (2019)
I loved it despite the naysayers
From the beginning I was enchanted by the costumes, the cinematography, the presentation, the songs, the wonder of CGI. I loved it more than the animated version and was totally involved in the story. A couple scenes were a bit dragish for a few minutes but overall....IT ROCKED. Will Smith was AWESOME as the genie and Naomi Scott nailed the princess. Mena Massoud was fun and made it fun...I hate that some think everyone should be over authentic to whatever they believe but it's a MOVIE and is about imagination and fun. The world is a mix of all and all of us come from various beginnings but we are all human, connected and I love the characters, the actors, all of it. A beautiful movie, entertaining and to dissect it into this, that and overlook the fun of it...come on!
Late Night (2019)
Fun, entertaining, great acting
I thought the writing was brilliant, the pace fun, the chemistry between actors riveting (Thompson was spot on) and I never got bored. A fresh take on Late Night shows and I loved it!
Ithaca (2015)
A fresh story with wonderful emotions, scenery and direction
Meg Ryan did an awesome job directing this movie. I was pleasantly surprised by the characters, the cinematography, lighting and superb story line. So many movies are predictable with the same dramas, with the same cliches while this one had a fresh approach. The feeling of the small town with divisions, logistics of war, the telegraph business of the time, the youth becoming an adult in ways so different than most films was captured with beautiful motion. The actors had real approach, timing and freshness. All in all, a wonderful movie.
