Doraibu mai kâ (2021)
Not worth your time
It really doesn't have much to say, and seems to think that nothing happening and sad looks amount to a story.
It also throws in Chekov, as if that is somehow meaningful.
It all adds up to pretentious twaddle that belongs in the early 20th century, not modern times.
It's too bad, I found the first 20 minutes interesting, but it only gets worse and more repressed from there.
A sad, sad commentary on the horrible emotional repression of Japan. I suppose in many ways they are trapped in the early 20 century, but it's a terrible bore to watch a 3 hour movie about it.
The one positive is that I liked the scenery and it does feel like you are in actual locations throughout the country.
Star Trek: Discovery: The Vulcan Hello (2017)
Bad writing, stiff acting
This is really hard to watch.
The visuals are top notch, but the dialogue is really poor and the acting is pretty bad too.
Could someone in charge of the Star Trek franchise get the memo and make a really high quality modern show. There is alot of great TV now and it starts with the writing.
And then there is the acting. I'm not sure if it's that they just can't act or the directing was poor. It's a bit embarrassing.
Upload (2020)
Good premise, terrible writing and execution
Oof. So sad to see Greg Daniels deliver such a turkey.
Very weird miscasting in the two leads.
And some atrocious dialogue and plot writing, which culminates in a laughably bad finale.
This whole show looks rushed, like they shot the first draft of each script and didn't bother to improve any parts of it or even check it to see if it made basic sense within the rules of the world of the show.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Time's Arrow, Part II (1992)
As bad as any of the bad TNG episodes
No idea why this is rated highly. It's cheesy victorian camp. If you're looking to watch the best of TNG avoid this one and Part 1.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Time's Arrow (1992)
Cheesy and silly
I've been watching old ST:TNG episodes based on the IMDB rating and everything over 8 stars has been enjoyable...until this two-parter.
The writing is awful. It's campy as can be and brings out the worst in the cast.
Plus the plot isn't interesting. Too bad, they had a great run of 4-5 episodes just before this.
