Justified: City Primeval (2023)
Pretty Good
I thought this was a pretty good show. People seem to be dragging the daughter character, but I have no clue what the problem was with her? Did people not like the character or the actress? I had no problem either way. Willa did fine and is beautiful, so all good there. I have always liked Tim Olyphant and he did well as usual. I also liked the Sandy character. All in all, the story moved along and was entertaining. I thought it somewhat hard to swallow that Raylan would try to develop some sort of relationship with the defense attorney, that wasn't particularly believable. All in all though, worth watching.
Alaskan Killer Bigfoot (2021)
Bigfoot is an Animal
Not some sort of interdimensional being. I really hate it when Bigfoot shows devolve to that. This show could have been so much better. As others note, these guys are ostensibly looking for Bigfoot but bail out anytime he might be close. Why? A lot of the time it isn't clear what they are doing at all. Ash supposedly hears a chain being dragged. Bigfoot doesn't do that. He also doesn't use fire to burn up religious icons or for any other purpose for that matter. That was hoaxed as was the fire at the end and the bouy being thrown in a tree. Finally, I fail to see why catching a single fish would make these guys think the village could be reestablished there? Frankly, I would have liked watching these guys long line for halibut the whole time vs. What they did.
Y: The Last Man (2021)
Lacks the Humor of the Graphic Novel
Big fan of the graphic novel. There is a lot of humor that comes across in the books: primarily from things that Yorrick says. Or even in a look in a single panel. For whatever reason, that is not present in this adaptation and sadly the whole effort lacks for it. The entire thing is jus plodding along as well, whereas in the comic, things happen at a rapid pace both in time and geographically.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
Wanted to like it
I like hard science fiction, so I wanted to like this. However, the implausibility of the events was so distracting that I couldn't get past it. Visually, it was well done. I figured out the family drama in the first 10 min, so that whole story line was utterly pointless.
Soul to Keep (2018)
Not too bad
My wife, daughter and I watched it on Netflix tonight. It wasn't Oscar worthy or anything, but it wasn't that bad either. Kept us entertained and that is what movies are for. I thought the young cast did ok with the material.
The Great Hack (2019)
Much ado about nothing
This documentary was entertaining and held my interest, BUT, not sure that the reactions of protagonists were justified. They acted like they were blowing the lid off the biggest scandal in the world. So this company mined your personal data off FB without permission to try and target ads to sway your vote. OK, that is not cool, but...so what? Nobody will ever convince me that FB ads are more persuasive than the incessant, 24/7, attack ads run by the DNC and the RNC themselves in the lead up to a presidential election. I saw literally thousands of those ads in the months ahead of Nov. 2016 on TV all day every day. Did some ads on FB have more sway than those attack ads? No way.
