Dark Nature (2022)
Pretty good horror flick
Looking for a movie, and my husband wanted to skip this one because of the low IMDB rating. I wanted to give it a chance, and I'm glad I did.
Dark Nature is a slow boil, but it pays off. No use of CGI or any over-the-top special effects. It's s very physical movie, and I could feel the struggle the characters were going through. Camping in the Rockies is a great adventure, but one wrong move can mean life or death, and I could feel the heart-pounding fear in each character.
I knew absolutely nothing about this movie, and I suggest other viewers do the same. Everything was a surprise, and that added an extra chill.
As I said, slow boil, and then takes off.
After (2012)
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED
I sat down to watch this, though I usually don't watch movies that have a less than 6 rating. But I do like to look at the user reviews, so I decided to invest my time after reading a couple. Yes, it's a slowly-paced film in the beginning, but hang on. It is WORTH THE WATCH. It was nothing that I thought it might develop into. It's heart-pounding, amusing, terrifying, and even heart-breaking, and it WORKS.
Go into it with no pre-conceived notions. The two main characters are delightful together, sharing some really good banter in light of everything going on around them. No, it's not a comedy, but the characters come off as real people, and some of the off-the-cuff low-key dialogue between them made me laugh. The action will have you holding your breath.
Expect the unexpected with this little gem.
Doc Martin: Last Christmas in Portwenn (2022)
Brilliant!
Doc Martin has been my favorite show since I first saw it. So sad it's come to an end. But what a farewell!
The writers wanted to give us a gift, and did they ever. The fine cast and script, the scenery, and the chemistry between characters bring together the perfect Christmas program.
There were moments when I laughed out loud, not because of silliness, but the low-key humor that is so delicious in this program.
It's a few days before Christmas, and Doc Martin disappoints the village by shutting down the local Santa grotto because of health concerns. That's all I need to say. Now sit back, put your feet up, and enjoy the Christmas ride.
Secrets of the Sasquatch (2022)
Ridiculous
I agree with another reviewer. This type of program really makes it difficult for people who are truly interested in finding out what this creature is.
This could have been a very interesting and informative show. I enjoy diving into personal stories. People are seeing SOMETHING; this much cannot be denied. However, when ETs and mysticism are thrown in the mix, the result is idiocy. This one lady here sounds like a bonafide nutball. Two-dimensional? Oh my word. I think if I heard a Bigfoot speaking to me in my head, I'd turn myself in to the nearest hospital.
No wonder so many people don't take this subject seriously.
Don't bother with this one, unless you are collecting members for an all-nutball bigfooting team.
While the Rest of Us Die: Secrets of America's Shadow Government (2020)
Politicized hogwash
I couldn't even get through the first episode. I don't care how you feel about Trump, the things reported in here were just ridiculous. The president does NOT have unilateral authority to begin a nuclear war. There is a process and chain of command. No president could ever, or WILL ever have the authority to decide to drop the bomb and then put in the code. Beyond stupid! The writer of this schlock should do some actual RESEARCH instead of listening only to the Lamestream Media. Also, using media that was not shot in the US when the subject is the US, is simply irresponsible. If you have a brain to think for yourself, this will be a huge disappointment.
Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
Wut?
I LOVE this show, but as far as this episode, what the heck was THAT?? If this had been on early on in the previous season, Ted Lasso would have been dead in the water if you ask me. What a waste of talent. And my time, which I'll never get back.
Skip this one. You won't miss a thing.
Rescued (2019)
IMDB makes it sound interesting.
But instead, it was a convoluted mess. I don't even think having a road map would have helped. Dreams, flashbacks-shaken, not stirred. Don't waste your time with this one.
Invasion (2021)
Molasses, anyone?
Oh my word. The pace will put the viewer into a coma. I was really hoping to like this, but after 4 episodes, I decided to call it quits. Way too many characters and not enough action. Frankly, when the world is being invaded, do you really think anyone will remotely care about all the family drama?
Extraordinary: The Stan Romanek Story (2013)
Worst acting ever, and true stories are not acted
Yes, I know. Stan Romanek is not an actor. Thank goodness, because he couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag. He and his "experience" is so fake that I had to keep taking breaks just to get through this hard-core nutfest. His body language, his eyes, his voice inflection are all dead giveaways. How this charlatan continues to have an audience is mind-boggling. I went into this with an open mind because ET encounters are one of my interests.
Stay away from this one. Totally a ruse. A fruitcake should have so many nuts.
Invasion Planet Earth (2019)
What?
What idiocy from hell did I just watch? Save yourselves from this movie. Run.
1000-lb Sisters: 1,000 Pounds to Freedom (2020)
Don't judge all of us by this show
These women are horrible people. They're rude and nasty to each other. They are not the face of Kentucky or anywhere else in the South. They even make obese people look terrible. They're not likable, not even sympathetic. The older one is so clueless about how responsible she is for her situation.
As a formerly obese person, I feel for those who are food addicts. However, there is so much help out there, physically as well as emotionally, that no one has to live this way.
I enjoy weight-loss programs because this is a life-time journey. This show, unfortunately, focuses too much on bickering and drama and not enough on the healing process. People sitting around cracking off gas, belching, and calling each other horrendous names is not helpful, much less entertaining.
