Halfworlds (2015)
Halfworlds Episode 1 Review
The HBO TV series Halfworlds has a very interesting back story but suffers from bad casting, fake acting extras, bad costume and seem to do little in drawing you into the story.
In terms of the main cast they are way to good looking and polished to be believed that they are your normal everyday people stuck in a battle between good and evil. Everyone looks like they belong in a upper crust telenovela Mansion instead of the dirty streets.
All seem way to good looking and clean to fit into the dark story line. It attempts to create an Asian Underworld type of TV series but falls way short on execution.

Halfworlds: Episode #1.2 (2015)
Episode 2 has breathed in hope to the series
After being disappointed with the first episode of Halfworlds, I have to say the second episode has breathed in some hope for the series.
I was hesitant to watch at first for fear of going through another round of rolling my eyes in a "Oh my god that was so bad" kind of routine but this time around I found it rather enjoyable. Bront Palare is brilliant as Detective Gusti and does a lot in bringing the dark Halfworlds story line to the TV screen. Even with his mispronounced words and non-American pace of speaking which actually adds to the whole the Asian version of Underworld feel instead of taking anything away from it.
The scenes with Sarah (Salvita Decorte), Barata (Arifin Putra) and Pinung (Aimee Saras) still feels out of place but that's more to bad casting than the value of the storyline itself.
The final scene of the episode (trying not to spoil it) had given me exactly what I wanted when I first read the premise of Halfworlds and has actually done for Asian mythological/horror creatures what Underworld did for European mythological/horror creatures.
I'm actually looking forward to the third episode, that being said I give this Episode of Halfworlds a B+.
