Green Room (2015)
5/10
Average.

I have to say, there wasn't anything particularly striking that stood out to me. "Green Room" felt like your run-of-the-mill action flick, but unfortunately, the plot came across as somewhat feeble. The relentless darkness that shrouded the film became quite a task to endure. And let's chat about the characters' decisions - more often than not, they left me baffled, as if logic had taken a backseat. It's almost like they were forcefully herded along to advance the plot rather than naturally evolving. All in all, I must admit, I wasn't thoroughly taken by it. On a personal scale, I'd give it around a 5 out of 10.

Worth watching. Good one.

Without a doubt, this film left me with a solid impression, earning a well-deserved 7 in my books. However, the aspect that slightly dampened my enthusiasm was the narrative's tendency to stretch the boundaries of logic. I mean, here we have our protagonist finding himself within the confines of a penitentiary, and before you know it, he's single-handedly engaging in a relentless combat spree through layers of high-security imprisonment. Now, call me a skeptic, but that's a scenario even the most lenient of imaginations might find a tad hard to swallow. I might not possess firsthand experience as a custodial officer, but I'm fairly certain that jailbreaks of such cinematic proportions don't quite align with the realities of correctional facilities. Nonetheless, let's not allow these minor setbacks to overshadow the film's virtues that shine through - its raw intensity, gripping action sequences, and the undeniable charisma of the lead. All in all, Brawl the Cell Block 99 merits commendation, though with a discerning eye on its narrative liberties.

Cry Wolf (2005)
8/10
It's obviously an unknown gem.

"Cry Wolf" is an engaging thriller that manages to keep audiences on the edge of their seats with its suspenseful storyline and well-crafted twists. With an intricate web of deception and mystery, the film takes viewers on a thrilling ride that delivers an 8 out of 10 experience.

From the opening scenes, "Cry Wolf" hooks the audience with its enigmatic premise. A group of friends creates an elaborate lie about a serial killer known as "The Wolf" as part of a game, only to find themselves entangled in a real-life nightmare as the fabricated tale starts to become a chilling reality. This unique blend of psychological manipulation and actual danger sets the stage for a tension-filled narrative.

The film benefits from a talented cast that brings depth to their characters. Julian Morris shines as Owen Matthews, whose charismatic yet enigmatic demeanor keeps both the characters within the story and the audience guessing. Lindy Booth's performance as Dodger provides a refreshing balance of vulnerability and strength, creating a character the audience can genuinely root for.

The screenplay excels in creating an atmosphere of uncertainty and doubt. The plot unfolds in a way that keeps viewers second-guessing every revelation and suspect, mirroring the characters' experience of being unable to discern truth from fiction. The constant shifting of alliances and motives adds layers of complexity, heightening the suspense and intrigue.

One of the film's strengths lies in its ability to subvert expectations. Just when the audience believes they have the puzzle figured out, "Cry Wolf" delivers unexpected turns that challenge preconceptions and inject new energy into the narrative. This dynamic storytelling approach elevates the film beyond a typical teen thriller, resulting in an experience that resonates on a deeper level.

However, the film is not without its flaws. Some plot elements may feel slightly contrived, and certain character decisions might raise eyebrows. Additionally, while the film excels in building tension, it occasionally sacrifices logical coherence for the sake of surprise.

In conclusion, "Cry Wolf" offers a gripping cinematic experience that earns a solid 8 out of 10 rating. With its clever plot twists, strong performances, and suspenseful atmosphere, the film successfully navigates the thriller genre, providing audiences with an exhilarating and unpredictable journey.

The Signal (2014)
4/10
Nothing spectacular. Just average.

Warning: Spoilers
The absence of the main character's legs was actually a tactic employed for certain scenes in the final act of the story. However, this detail adds very little to the overall narrative. The events within the movie are quite ordinary and lack any remarkable features. As the plot unfolds, the progression of events becomes almost predictably linear, leaving little room for surprise elements to captivate the audience.

Furthermore, the inclusion of supporting characters comes under scrutiny. These characters not only fail to contribute meaningfully to the plot, but also have the potential to divert viewers' attention away from the main storyline. If the roles of these side characters haven't been developed in a meaningful manner, it can detach the audience from the core plot.

The overall structure of the narrative invites critique as well. The coherence and logic between events often appear to be missing, and the fictional world depicted in the movie is remarkably unrealistic, even for a fantasy genre. This could weaken the viewers' engagement, as the narrative universe struggles to secure a sense of believability. The film seems to lack an intrinsic framework, leading the audience to question the flow of the story.

In conclusion, certain choices within the film seem to make minimal impact on the narrative. The foreseeable sequence of events, superfluous supporting characters, and the lack of internal consistency may negatively influence the viewer's experience. With a more thorough exploration of the storyline and a concerted effort to maintain consistency, the narrative could potentially offer a more gratifying experience to the audience.
