MILF Manor (2023)
Like a horrific car crash
This is one of the trashiest, most horrifying shows I have ever watched and I will 100% be watching every single episode. It's like a terrible car crash that i just can't look away from. I don't know what's worse, the way the moms talk to each other, the way they talk to each others sons, or the way they talk to their own sons. I wouldn't be surprised if this show ended with every mom hooking up with their own child. There is definite sexual chemistry between some of the pairs and it is played up significantly. I leave every episode feeling sick to my stomach and i cannot wait to see what happens next.
Disco Mommy Fever.
I See You (2019)
This one was doomed from the go
I was wholly unimpressed with this movie. It felt like a student film. The flow of events is just so stilted. It's somewhat hard to put into words and it's something I take for granted in better movies but the events in this movie have little to no logical flow. It's a lot of the writer going "and then...". The characters are all incredibly unlikable, which I assume is the point but it just doesn't work here.
There is also just so many plot twists in here. It's twist fatigue at a point. Some of them work but most just feel so unearned and forced. It takes skill and finesse to write a good recontextualization and this film clearly lacks that.
All in all, this movie is not worth your time in my opinion. Other films do what it does significantly better.
I'm gonna list two but it might be considered spoilers by some so read at your own risk I guess.
Just go watch the Boy or Housebound instead. Both do this concept much better and without incessant distracting plot twists.
Kimetsu no Yaiba: Layered Memories (2022)
The best it's been
Finally this season has its 10/10 episode. I am fully expecting next episode to be 10/10 also. This is some of the best anime on TV right now.
I didn't think this show would pass Tanjiro vs. Rui yet but this episode does it in spades. Loving it.
Death Note (2017)
Please watch the anime
I have never seen an interpretation completely miss what made the original work so amazing quite like this. My fiancée and I decided to get drunk and watch this after finishing the anime and it still wasn't enough to make it bearable. Someone clearly read the plot description of the first episode of the anime and thought "what if I removed all the brains and forced in tons of gore."
All nuance, all character growth, all complication and intrigue, are completely gone. Everything interesting about the show is completely absent here. It is replaced by one-dimensional, uninteresting, and illogical characters with zero motivation, nonsensical plot lines that make no sense on there own, and heaps of totally unnecessary gore.
Skip until you've seen the anime, then consider a drunken watch. A true 0/10.
