Teströl és lélekröl (2017)
A Beautiful Love Story
This is a beautiful love story about two shy, socially awkward people who meet while working in a beef slaughterhouse. They find out that each night they have the exact same dream about two deers finding each other in the woods.
I have a different take on the meaning of the title than other reviewers. I don't think one was the "body" and one was the "soul". I think it has to do with them finding their soul mates. They are the bodies who find each other. The deer represent their souls as in soul mates. That is why after an especially touching and moving scene where they consummate their love, their dreams of the deer end. Because they finally found their "sole mates".
The Revenant (2015)
Overblown and Hard to Believe
Yes, this is a visually beautiful movie. The cinematography is stunning. BUT, I just couldn't get past the unbelievability of this movie. There is no way that any human being could have survived what Leo did in this movie. First of all, it takes place in the high mountains in the dead of a cold, snowy winter. He does not wear gloves and his fingers don't get frost bite; he falls into a frigid grand rapid river, down multiple waterfalls and doesn't instantly freeze to death; he continues crawling around in those wet clothes in the snow and still doesn't freeze to death; he's mauled by a bear, including the bear ripping a giant hole in his throat that the water he drinks pours out of and said bear dying on top of him, and he doesn't bleed to death or get crushed to death; he and his horse take a leap off a 150' cliff, the horse is splattered on the ground but Leo miraculously lands in the top of a tree and somehow survives; need I go on?
The movie is excruciatingly long at 2 1/2 hours. It was torture. I actually tried to kill time in the bathroom. Go see Spotlight instead. That's the Academy Award worthy picture.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
Unoriginal
This movie is totally unoriginal and stole the plot from the original Episode IV. I did think it was fun to watch and I'm glad I saw it. But I don't think it will be memorable. And I think a huge opportunity was missed to move to the next chapter. The plot contained:
- A droid with a message to deliver. - A girl in trouble who needs to be rescued. - A girl who has the force strong in her, but doesn't know it (Luke Skywalker)? - A young hotshot pilot (Han Solo)? - A bar scene with a bunch of rough, strange characters. - An entire village killed. - Someone's home planet blown up. - A new Darth Vader. - A light saber fight to the death on a catwalk.
Need I go on? I did enjoy seeing where Princess Leila, Han Solo, and Chewbacca are now. And I loved the final scene and have higher hopes for the next installment. I think there is an original plot in the making if Luke Skywalker can come back as his older, wiser self and save the Galaxy, which is where I think the movie should have been at the halfway mark.
