Brave New World (2020)
Cringe worthy writing
Fundamentally changes the material from the novel it is supposedly inspired by. The writing is apparently done via a committee. The characters take no action; things happen to them. The dialogue could've been written by a high school student.
Westworld: Passed Pawn (2020)
Convoluted nonsense with choices made by characters that don't make sense.
Great production, values good cast with a few outliers, and terrible writing. Wrap a bunch of nonsense in a glossy package and watch the undiscerning gobble it up.
Westworld: The Mother of Exiles (2020)
Nope
Intentionally convoluted mystery box nonsense. This may seem deep to other people but it's simply pretentious.
Devs: Episode #1.6 (2020)
Nope
The show wants to be deep and mysterious. In fact it is very shallow and has telegraphed whatever was intended to be intriguing from the very beginning. Also, the material is very thin with a layer of pretentiousness on top. I'm afraid the season is turning into what should've been an OK episode of Black Mirror.
Westworld (2016)
I am concerned.
Great production values. Great to good acting. Bad Robot writing. That is to say mystery box empty pretentiousness. I hope they are able to make the story meaningful, but I have my doubts.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Alex Kurtzman is a hack
Picard is a completely different character than he was in Star Trek the Next Generation. The Federation is also completely different than it was. It is obvious these scripts are created by committee using a checklist.
Devs: Episode #1.4 (2020)
Ugh
This may have appealed to me when I was 15. It is frustrating the show tries so hard to be deep while in fact it shows a very shallow understanding of both physics and philosophy.
Devs (2020)
I really wanted to like the show but...
I am afraid Mizuna cannot carry her role. The artifice shows through. The music is distracting instead of complimenting. Well the show attempts to be deep and intriguing, so far it has shown a shallow nod to both physics and philosophy.
