Killer Sally (2022)
Complex
Sally did kill her husband so the title is accurate. How and why she killed him is the debate of the series. By the end it seems the filmmakers took her side which is fair but in the end nobody won regardless of who was right. In my opinion she had one fight too many and killed him to end it once and for all. The 'if I can't have you nobody can' may play a part but the element of PTSD in battered women was the main cause. Even if I don't find Sally as innocent as she makes herself appear I don't believe she deserved to spend as long as she did in prison for it. At least she's out now and can make up for the time taken away from her.
Halloween Ends (2022)
Who the hell is Corey Cunningham?
Remember when Halloween was scary because it didn't give an explanation to why Michael Myers killed people? David Gordon Green seems to have. Basically Blumhouse made their own spooky character who has the name Michael Myers only in this movie he's called Corey Cunningham and nobody wanted to see this movie for him. Maybe at the start in 2018 but two movies in and after the Michael massacre of Halloween Kills following it up with a movie that barely classifies as horror focusing on a character we have never even heard of is a bizarre decision and a clear sign they had no idea what to do with this franchise beyond the 2018 version. This better be the end now.
Monster (2022)
Why Glenda Cleveland?
The show was good and well acted but Glenda Cleveland was given more screen time than any of Dahmer's victims yet she never lived next door to Dahmer, in fact, she didn't even live in the same apartment. So why on a show that aims not to tell the events from Dahmer's point of view did they chose to mainly focus the POV on a woman who had barley anything to do with him? Could it be she is now dead and they don't need her permission to take creative liberties in pushing agendas that (according to reporters at the time) weren't an issue? If so, this means they can't have Glenda herself dispute these claims as she is no longer with us and the victims (who mostly still are) claim to have never been reached out by Netflix for their permission on the show. I wonder why....
Monster: The Bogeyman (2022)
Weakest Episode of the Series
It's a weak episode not because of the lack of Dahmer but more about the liberties the writers take with the victims to fill time. They are playing with real people's emotions for dramatic effect. Also, no subtly with the racism of cops and people in authority, not saying it shouldn't be in the episode but it was badly executed. Plot wise is non-existent you could skip this episode and nothing would be missed. I get this is about real people and real events but it is still a TV series and there's only so many times you can be told the same information until it becomes unnecessary. You get enough of it in the other episodes you didn't need one completely dedicated to it. Judging by the reports the real victims didn't have a say in this series so all the behind close doors moments were either made up by the writers based on what they think they felt or told from an outside source looking to gain some creditability from a Netflix series which is ironic given half the episode is about people seeking fame for what Dahmer did.
The Hot Chick (2002)
Missed Opportunity
The frustrating part of this movie is the benefit of hindsight knowing what could have been. 20 years later and Rachel McAdams is a far bigger star than Rob Schneider. She is the best part of the movie until she switches bodies and is gone almost completely from the film. The first 20 minutes when it's all on her is far better than anything else in the movie. I think the film would have been far better if we stuck with Rachel isn't of Rob for the whole movie and not a forgettable, lazy comedy vehicle for Adam Sandler's friend which it turned out to be.
