Clash of the Titans (2010)
Best movie of the decade
OMG! Till today i thought that 2012 was the bomb, but after what i've just witnessed i can't really say that with all certainty anymore. This movie just blew my brains out of my head and straight on the floor! I could not, for the life of me, notice a single coherent line in the whole chaotic mess that is, very liberally, called this movies "storyline". If i watch this as a cinematic film piece that should make sense and perfect logic, then, no, this is not a very good cinematic film piece, but if i watch it as an epic video game intro, which it is, then - whoa!! The main character gets shield upgrades, new weapons, skills, a gang of skilled fighters. He voyages and encounters big bosses for which he must use different tactics. CotT is in fact a clever RPG movie filed with INSANE amounts of epic. Epic hot chicks, epic soldier stone smile, epic jinn or whatever the hell he is, epic black F***ING Pegasus, none of that white sissy stuff flies here, epic Kraken that we see only for less than a minute in the movie, epic lines like "Don't look this bitch in the eye.", epic black Pegasus running on the beach in slow-mo. This s*** is epic. 10/10
Batman: Gotham Knight (2008)
Bad
My god this is terrible. If you're a Nolan's Batman fan, you will be, without a doubt, disappointed. So, you have 6 stories, each with a different story telling style and animation, making this anime best describable as an "Animatrix" try in the Batmans world. The only difference is that "Batman - Gothams Knight" does not deliver in a way that we expect. To make a long story short and skip dissecting each segment of the movie, let's just say that Batman gets better (story, and drawing wise) as it progresses, but it starts of so dull and boring that in the end you have a buildup from "Poor" to an "OK".
I give it 3/10 just because of the last segment that is actually quite good.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)
Unoriginal
Unoriginal, or disappointing is easily the fastest way to describe this movie. It's possibly the most unoriginal movie i have seen in my entire life, and might I add i've seen a few. Some scenes are literally copied from Lord of the Rings, and the music from Gregson Williams is extremely familiar from KoH or the previous Narnia. Children playing the Narnian kings and queens were wooden in their performances, and were there not Ben Barnes as Caspian second Narnia would have been unwatchable. Also, the movie is too long, and rather dull and unconvincing in the first half, and i could see without even trying some grave mistakes in the directing (speeding things up, too dark screen, etc.). I give it 3/10, just because i got the tickets for free.
Zivi i mrtvi (2007)
The best Croatian war movie
This movie is phenomenal, and, dare I say, the best Croatian war movie ever filmed since it's independence. Croatia has gone through a rough cultural period after the war. Some of it's films were either politically indoctrinated, or just simply bad, but be it as it may, Croatias filmmakers lost respect that they once held as a part of the Yugoslavian film makers. Little by little, people just discarded all Croatian on celluloid as "bad", and would rather indulge in an afternoon Holywoodly brainwash, in opposition to searching for the "needle in the stack of hay" of the Croatian movie. Needless to say, this movie brings it all home. Superb script and out of this world directing, followed by some tremendously good acting by Filip Sovagovic and Velibor Topic just might bring back our faith in the Croatian cinematography. Little mistakes in the casting were visible (the Ustase commanders were terrible), but still, this movie deserves nothing less of a pure
9/10
