Cobra Kai (2018)
Amazing, the best "30 years later..." Movie/serie
There is a whole generation that saw the Karate Kid movies at least a few times in their life. It even has the status of pop culture. So, how to make a good series about a movie that was made over 30 years ago? Well, they did it excellently.
It's believable, the story is very good, the actors besides R.M. & W.Z. are really talented and at the end I had real love for Johnny Lawrence. Yes I know, how could anybody love for the bad guy Johnny Lawrence, just watch his side of the whole story.
Kill Switch (2017)
Smart Movie.. There should be more of this kind of movies...
So, Kill Switch is a movie about a dude who is sent on a mission and the mission goes fubar instead of being home on time for dinner.
The location is very cool, for Europeans it recognizable. Small streets, a lot of cover and knowing that going from point A to point B is never a straight line in Old Europe.
The CGI used is just amazing, it felt very real.
The most interesting part of this movie is the camera shots when the main character is on the mission. It's POV-Style, he has a full dashboard and clearly he is in a special suit.
The script...Its a little thin. But then again, its not a blockbuster movie. And I think because of the thin script the acting in the beginning of the movie was not that great. I would not say this movie is a game or based on a game. But they used the same way storytelling is used in games, with flashbacks and all. And it worked out great IMHO.
Conclusion: Its a Smart movie, I enjoyed it and not only because I am Dutch and the filming location is very familiar but its the story, how the story is told on the big screen that I liked it so much. There should be more movies like this.
Army of One (2016)
Funny movie 7/10
Saw this movie last weekend, did not know what to expect. I never heard of Gary Faulker before, but I remembered that a couple years ago there was a crazy American who traveled to Pakistan to capture OBL. I thought is was a hoax, nobody can be that stupid. So Meet Gary Faulker, people.
Nicolas Cage played the role very good, I did not see Nicolas Cage but a very annoying American patriot. Russel Brand played the role of god. He Was no Morgan Freeman god, but for this movie he played the part very convincing. Wendi McLendon-Covey acted a bit wooden and I really did not believe here role in the beginning of the movie. Extra notion for Rainn Wilson who played a small role in the movie as a some kind of jester.
Plot of the movie was very funny and fast pacing. Remember, this is not a documentary but a comedy. Watch this movie, if you want a real laugh.
