Slow Horses: Cleaning Up (2023)
Let's talk over some scotch
This episode really stood out for me. The two circling female sharks finally come together in the same tank to share a bottle of Macallan 18 - that had been a gift from one to the other, but had remained unopened until this battle.
Highly intelligent wit, sharp tongues and side glances at each other as one was going to overthrow the other. It was a showdown without physical punches, but some king hits being delivered.
The bottle of Macallan 18 sat there in between them during the scene, as they drank to each one's career demise. Love it.
Bravo to the writers - this piece of television is going to be replayed many times in my house!
The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)
Dark Comedy? No.
We watched this hoping for a "Waking Ned Devine"....ah no. This is no Sunday night 'sit by the fire' type of Irish delightful movie. We had heard the hype of Awards and had high expectations of a quirky art house movie with some Irish quirky natured laughs along the way.
The little house on the water and seaside village was the only similarity. Acting and scenery, tick. Theme was dark but please don't expect a comedic finish.
Still visiting these little coastal villages is on our bucket list for an Ireland trip. I want Guinness and oysters!
We both couldn't sleep after this movie. Disturbing content.
Beforeigners (2019)
Wow! What a great show
I came across this on IMDB after watching and loving Occupied on Netflix.
I have given it 10/10 because the story writing is strong, and had me on a rollercoaster of emotions. It is very well shot, and with the pwerful opening scene...then suddenly it went 10 years later...and I wanted to see more of the phenomenon of the arrivals.
Looking forward to series 2. HBO, you have backed another winner here!
By the way I am english-speaking and don't understand any Norwegian, so the subtitles were fine to both follow the story, and take in the incredible imagery
Ad Astra (2019)
Space Junk...
I deliberately avoided all reviews before seeing this last night, and my expectations were HUGE. I heard this is a new Space Epic...how wrong was I?
I'm going into all the faults of this movie - there are SO many.
AVOID - and if you want a modern moon-based classic watch 'Moon' instead!
The Capture (2019)
Excellent Thriller - great start
As we are supposed to feel, I am not sure if the lead character is good, bad or mad.
We have been introduced to two stories that conflict with video evidence, and while we want to believe Shaun as he is a soldier, he might just have PTSD
