Dracula: The Dark Prince (2013)

Good Vampire movie

I liked this movie!

It had very good acting and the story was good. The action was good and I liked the love story angle to the Dracula Story. I would have given a higher rating except that I didn't like how it ended so much. I like happier endings. It could have been better, but that's life. Or death in this matter...lol.

The movie keep my interest and I found myself rooting for the Vampire. That was interesting. But in the end, we all know that not everyone can win. It's an overall good movie and worth a watch.

Excellent Vampire movie!

Overall excellent Vampire movie!

This movie has everything a Vampire movie lover wants. The acting is great, the story is original with a good ending, and the characters are very believable. Couldn't ask for a better movie.

I rated it 10 out of 10 for just that reason. I don't see any reason to give it a lower rating. I rate my movies by if I would watch it a second or third time. This one I would for sure.

The story is about a mother and daughter and their lives as Vampires. It takes several turns, as most movies do, and comes out in the end with you wanting more.

Hopeful, someday, there will be a part 2.

Jupiter Ascending (2015)

Sci-Fi Classic

I'm totally blown away by all the bad reviews.

I guess the ones reviewing this film don't like Sci-fi. This Sci-fi love story is action packed and original. It's an excellent movie with an original story line. The Story as everything you could ask for, drama, a bad guy you can root against, a love story, heroes, the works!

OK, there are no big name actors or actresses, that I'm aware of, but the acting is excellent throughout. The graphics are also excellent throughout the movie.

My kids rate all the movies we see every year and this movie was our Movie of the Year in 2015. It's not the bad movie the reviewers here rate it as. If you like Sci-fi then you will like this movie.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012)

End of the World movie...wow

I really wanted give this movie a higher rating..really I did.

I'm a happy ending kinda guy. I know, I know, there are a lot of people going to say..why? Well, I watch movies hoping for an outcome that will be good. Well, Don't expect this movie to be one of those movies. 99% of the movie was great. It was the last 1%....LOL.

The movie is about, what it says, about the end of the world. The world is about to end and a lonely man seeks out his high school sweetheart, but along the way something happens... I won't give it away totally.

Anyway, after everything turns out great, then what happens...well, you know. Good movie, but I just can't give it better then a 6.

Ginger Snaps (2000)

good werewolf type movie!

This movie is the type of movie I look for. It's well made, not well known actors/actresses and fun. The movie is about two sisters who are tight and one changes...literally.

The plot is good, the acting is good, and this is not your run of the mill werewolf movie. It has enough action to keep you interested and the characters are developed well. I like the sister angle. I like the twist and the werewolf angle the movie takes.

Not your regular werewolf type movie.

(Spoiler) Not big on the ending. I'm a happy ending kind of guy, unless a sad ending is necessary. It wasn't necessary in this case, but it was still a good movie and worth the watch.

The Craft (1996)

Great Witch movie!

Lots of hotties and action in this witch movie. I rated it a 9/10 due to it has great actresses in it and overall movie was well done. As far as Witch movies go, this one is one of my favorites. There are others out there that are good, but this one is right up there with them. IMHO.

Like I mentioned, the four actresses are very good. The plot is good. It's about a girl who makes friends and soon they discover they are Witches. They use their powers for good and bad. Some can handle it and some can't. Conflict arises, as expected, and fights ensue.

Good overall movie. Worth a watch. Jim W

Zombieland (2009)

zombie cult classic!

10 out of 10..easy.

Zombieland has everything a great zombie movie should have. Great acting, good action, good plot, some love theme thrown in there for good measure and lots of good Zombie action.

Overall, probably the best Zombie movie ever...OK, top 5 anyway. If it's not considered a classic now, it will be.

I don't have any criticism of the movie. It should make any Zombie movie lover very happy that they saw it. Slam dunk!

Oh, one last thing...it seems like everyone in this movie is a superstar! The actors are all having great careers. That is saying something about this movies acting quality.

Kiss of the Damned (2012)

Excellent Vampire movie!

I'm confused why the rating on this is so low. The plot is good, the acting is good, the vampires are good. I believe anyone who loves Vampire movies would love this movie. It has everything I like in a Vampire movie. Sort of a love story, violence, good ending, good plot line, and the Vampires are realistic (well, as vampires go).

I wish I could find more movies like this one. I'm running out of Vampire movies. The Twilight Series is OK, but this movie is the kind of Vampire movie I like. It has a good mix of a love story mixed with Vampire violence. It's not one or the other.

Enjoy! It's a lot better than the IMDb rating it has...trust me.

Blood and Chocolate (2007)

Excellent Movie!

This is the type of movie I love to watch. It's off the beaten path of regular horror flix. It's a love story wrapped in a horror flix that both you and your girl could enjoy.

I like that it's not just a werewolf eating and killing people and then getting killed at the end in some horrific manner! There a good story line and plot. The characters are real and believable. The acting is good.

I rated this movie a 9 because it puts a good twist to the werewolf/wolf story. It's uniquely excellent in it's making. Hope that makes since. It's an overall entertaining movie that you don't want to end.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

Excellent Movie!

Excellent overall movie!

You can't ask for better acting, a better plot, and a movie with better action. This movie is slow at times, but the story keeps in interested throughout. It's a violent movie and you find yourself rooting for the main character.

Very well made movie. I have 0 complaints. When a movies is a complete success in every aspect, I give it a 10. This is one of those movies. It will not let you down. It's a murder mystery drama with a twist and violence. Not for the faint of heart.

Review of Marebito (Japanese Vampire Movie)

Marebito is a Japanese made vampire film. It's from the view of a loner cameraman who becomes obsessed with a girl he finds in the caverns underneath the city.

I've seen about very Vampire movie there is...lol. It's my favorite genre. You have to like Vampire movies to enjoy this one. It's slow moving. It's a character builder type Vampire movie, not an action type movie. There are a lot of better Vampire movies out there, but if you've seen them all, then this is one you should see. Again, If Vampires are your thing, if not, then stay away from this one.

I watched it with subtitles. Not sure if it comes in an English version. I doubt it.

I gave it a 6/10 but the movie could have been so much better. It's a low budget Vampire Character building movie. Not bad though.

The Legend of Tarzan (2016)

Good movie!

I saw this movie at 915pm at the Potomac Mills Mall, IMAX theater in Woodbridge, VA. June 30th, Thursday.

The acting was excellent. The story is not the original but close enough. Tarzan is Tarzan with a varied story line but it's good. I thought the overall movie was good to very good. Entertaining throughout.

The movie is a love story and about Tarzan and Jane...duh! lol. The animation or whatever they used for the animals was excellent, There is, of course, deaths, and lots of action.

It's worth the money to see. IMHO Jim
