Shabi Ke Mah Kamel Shod (2019)
Dark, Intensitying and Horrific.
This movie is so intense and dark that I couldn't even absorb it without pausing. This Iranian female filmmaker is tough as nails in her cinematography. The depiction is so real that it totally nailed the tag 'based on real events'. Certainly tells you that how blind we can be when there's a hope of love.
Zinda Bhaag (2013)
Best Realistic Movie in past Whole Decade.
What do you want to see in a movie?
Flashy clothes? Glamour? Happily lived after kind of love story? Women in short dresses? Item number? Pure entertainment?
If you want that all, You have come to wrong place Sonny. This movie isn't meant for you.
Zinda Bhaag is one of the sharpest dagger to pierce your heart to fill the reality of unsung heroes of poor families who risk everything to dream for better future, for them and their family.
I am actually a big critic of current Pakistani movie scene. Similarly to our drama industry, films are more filled with pathetic action and unnecessary glamour. This is why I don't think movies like Zinda Bhaag do come often.
I really watched this movie with very firm grip that I would find just a tiny point to criticise it but I couldn't find it. It made me proud that at last this movie has broken all the stereotypes.
A very moving and extra ordinary script.
Story of three poor and working class youths who are fighting to survive in this hellhole of poverty but also irrigating this mighty tree of hopes with their blood, the three on which their families are daydreaming.
It has some veteran actors of PTV and star performer Naseer Ud Deen Shah from India but I will specially name Khurram Patras (Khaldi), Zohaib Asghar (Taambi) and Amna Ilyas (Rubina) for their fantastic performances.
Zohaib Asghar is an hell of a find, who was previously working as a mobile phone salesman. The pain he depicts of a young man on his face, who's family has gone estranged over his failure to earn fortune is worth billions.
Movie is partially in Punjabi movie which can hint that unnamed city is highly inspired from Gujrat or Gujranwala where its common for people to migrate west for jobs.
Movie also has one of most original sound track. Sahir Ali Bagga is the man with all amazing stuff happens ever.
Best movie is past decade in my humble opinion. A movie which really unveiled class difference, broken promises, destroyed innocent wishes and reality of death.
Give me a favour, don't hesitate because of rating. Go for it please.
Maalik (2016)
Action, Vigilantism and Patriotsim. Typical Ashir Azeem Project.
I must say that this isnt among the best but this isnt bad either.
film is very ordinary as far its direction and photography is concerned but due to latest technology, Pakistani films have got rid of ancient rainy look kind of pictures. As we all know that this is directorial debut for Ashir Azeem. So we can't expect it be up to the mark.
The script could have been better. If actors could have been better to eradicate their overacting then poor script could have been neglected.
Movie lacks realism as outdoor shots feel so phoney. Nevertheless its long way to go, so we an hope that future projects would be more professional.
the things which are positive and i liked,
*Real depiction of Afghan Mujahideen.
*Inter-ethnic harmony.
*Idea of Patriotism and Vigilantism.
Kanebaaz (2014)
Experimental blend of Pakistan TV Drama and native mafia flick........ Comic but dark, slow but thrilling, Odd but original.
Best movie so far among others which are pure commercial and "massaalah" flicks. I must say that none could portray better than Faisal Rehman, when it comes to a character who carries his moral values and family respect with criminal life. Kanebaaz is not 'bang bang' movie if you expect it to be so. It is more like a social drama about maintaining your limits. It is about knowing your radar. You will get lost if you will swing herder to get more. It is about taking rightful decisions in crucial moments of life. it is about vulnerability of loyalties and relations. Movie has one of finest scripts i ever saw. Muhammad Ahmad is not a new name if anyone remembers a PTV drama 'Aahan'. Similarly the humor is very apposite. I will look forward to see something new coming from Ali Sade as i loved his frames. I cant find anything in his direction to criticize. A breath of fresh air in Pakistani cinema, Proudly presentable to any non Urdu speaker viewer. I am not big fan of Hassan Uzmi but he was spot on and flawless along with Nimra Bucha.
Jalaibee (2015)
Story of two major crimes happening in same city which get connected in an awkward way.
OK it was a nice try. I like animated flashbacks, music score, filming location without stating fiction city in which the story took place and a bit different story.
I couldn't find credit about writing and i seem to guess that it had been done by Yasir Jaswal by himself. I am sorry to say that he didn't come to mark. He should have done better if he could get it done by a proper writer. his is why poor script bashed the movie completely and this is why it didn't deal with acting standards which were needed to compete with other Pakistani Movies.
But overall its average movie because of over acting of every actor in the movie specially Ali Safina. He was supposed to act on part comedian role but the script wasn't good enough besides his pathetic acting. i really don't know that will this performance earn him a better place among upcoming Pakistani Film projects ? Danish Taimoor and Adnan Jaffer don't qualify for such criminal and action roles. Wiqar Ali Khan even doesn't have even his own voice in it. Wes Malik's voice is dubbed for him. I just know Wes Malik as i had been regular radio listener. Uzair Jaswal only got the role as his brother was directing the movie. His role useless but may be it was to only give alliance to Ali's role.
