Andor: The Eye (2022)
Brilliant
Brilliant episode. One of my favorite episodes of all the Star Wars shows thus far. Great energy and pace, high stakes, some great twists and turns, visually stunning, enoying the characters, absolutely loved it. It doesn't even have the force or lightsabers! Its just great storytelling!
I love the adult tone to this show as opposed to many of the other Disney star wars shows, people die, its not just the good guys win because of plot holes that don't make sense. Andor is overall a fantastic addition to the star wars universe and I would love to see future shows and movies continue this same tone.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine (2022)
Significant improvement on ep 1
Much better overall episode to 1 in many aspects.
Looked better, had more character development and a stronger story. I especially enjoy learning more about the sand people and having them fleshed out, and the additional action happening in mos espa.
Overall better fight scenes to ep 1, has a thrilling central set piece, and in general the ep felt less kid friendly which is a good thing.
I feel like Temerua morrison has good moments but also stiff moments, which may just be his age now.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Not quite the Mandalorian
Mixed feelings, I'm a Star Wars die hard, and I have to say I'm not sold on every choice here.
Sarlac pit looked like a low budget tv show set and was over too fast. Dude should have battled to get out of that thing.
What boba went through after this being dragged, no water etc he would be in desperate need of medical attention by the time he reached the sand peoples camp. The state he was in still being able to speak and break his ropes and fight was too unrealistic for me and makes it feel a bit "showey".
Boba was too nice overall, he's a ruthless assassin not a nice guy. Needs to be more of a grey character. An anti hero. The character maybe has good overall intentions now, but his means to the end should be things someone on the "light" side wouldn't do. Doubt he would offer to free the other person tied up in the camp.
Boba also doesn't need the inner workings of tattoine criminal hierarchy and eticate explained to him, find a better way of conveying that information not just through unbelievable exposition. Like he was there for a period of time before this, did he not observe? Did he not do his research before actually going to take control??
Overall Visually there were some cool elements but I did kinda feel like I was watching a tv show set, not tattooine.
Boba also has just come out of the best scene we've ever had of him (end of mando defeating a whole squad of stormtroopers) to then in this not really being a dominant in any fight scene. Made him seem a bit weak really and I was scratching my head why.
Really hope this improves as I want to love it!
The Mandalorian (2019)
Phenominal
From the moment I started watching I have been captivated. Absolutely incredible. Pedro Pascal as the mandalorian is extremely compelling. The story is fantastic. The star wars vibe is perfect. As a die hard star wars fan this is heaven.
The Mummy (2017)
Fun watch but nothing serious
The mummy is the kind of movie you watch once, have fun, and never watch again. Good night out at the movies but nothing memorable whatsoever.
A big issue with this movie is that there are tons of clichés. The whole intro, story, some of the lines used have just been so over done, there really is nothing new about it. Many things also weren't explained very well and the 'in movie exposition' was too convenient.
Wasn't Tom Cruises best work either, he was a pretty typical Tom Cruisey character but worse than other movies I've seen him in, he's getting a bit old to play the 'playboy'. The female leads and side character dude were probably the highlights.
Worst part about the movie was the ending. Don't make a movie that will resolve/explain itself in a sequel, when the first movie hasn't proved its actually good. Maybe you have ideas in mind for the sequel and thats cool, but The Mummy basically feels like one story broken up into 2 movies. Super random and just leaves you unsatisfied at the end.
Don't have a tone of positives except that it did a solid job at being a typical 'B' movie
It had a few almost thriller like moments so maybe avoid if you scare really easily.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
Mind Blowingly Amazing
Phenomenal Movie. Easily top 3 Marvel movies made, and in my top 10 of any movie. Hilariously funny, Incredible characters that are developed further than the first, great introduction of new characters too. Somehow it manages to shift between the humour and being also very emotionally compelling, the stakes feel real. Great story, amazing universe, done very very well. Absolutely loved it.
