The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Just Not Hitting the Mark
It is a cute movie that does have some great references to most of not all Mario and Donkey Kong games. It was fun if you ignored the fact that the changed a lot of the elements that make Mario. Mario generally rescues Peach, not Luigi. Didn't follow any of the cannon story of Mario. Pratt is not the voice we love. Did they choose to state he was faking the voice all these years because Pratt couldn't do Mario the whole time? To loose a great voice actor over a subpar movie because you needed a name to drive up revenue was not the answer. It was just step for cheap lines. Jack Black was a welcome addition.
Spinning Out (2020)
Just watch
Shows like this one make me mad at Netflix. They make a great show like this. They don't market it well or really at all, hype the crap out of horrible stuff like Cuties, and drop this because it didn't do as well. It would have been an amazing show to continue. It targets mental illness very accurately when it talks about bi-polar and the story was able to build the characters in a way that allowed you to relate although you may not have the pressures that athletes deal with. Netflix dropped the ball, again, by letting another good series with meaningful messages fall to the wayside.
Ad Vitam (2018)
Watch it
This show has some issues just like any other show however, the premise is gives you something to think about. The characters develop nicely to keep you watching for little items that give you more into their pasts or current life.
The use of jellyfish throughout the series made me happy for the beginning as I went right to the thought of the immortal jellyfish and their ability to survive. They created a great parallel for me.
Altogether the show was worth watching. I just fear it will be like Alter Carbon and tank season 2.
You (2018)
Isn't the worst
It is pretty much what I expected. This is the type of show you can leave on, leave the room, and come back to realize you missed nothing of importance. It's not there to make you think. It is just a show which points out that someone could stalk you through social media. It's just an embellished view.
Westworld (2016)
Just fantastic
When they stated they were going to remake this into a show instead I was sceptical. This show is amazing. They remade this better than original. The cast is directed and was selected incredibly. Worth waiting for the next seasons to come.
Dollface (2019)
Only for some
I tried so hard to like this. This is a bias point of view as I am not "normal" and I get that but this show, for the whole season, made me feel like a failure as a women in the age demographic they picked. As someone in the same age range that is disabled and unable to bar hop or hang out with my friends as they kept pressing in this show, it made me feel like I am a horrible friend because I can't go do what we should to band together as women. I get what they were trying to get across with her focusing on the bf whose now gone but as someone who only has that option because her friends don't want to hang out unless we go out, which some of us can't, it did not explore the fact that you don't always have to go out or be active to maintain the friendships. Nor should you have to.
