Russian Doll (2019–2022)

So glad I didn't drop it.
13 February 2019
Half into the first episode I almost left. I found the main character grating. But I kept going just to say I gave it an opportunity. Now it is 2 am and I have just finished watching the eight episodes, one after the other. And it WAS NOT binging. It was being trapped inside the best storytelling I've experienced in decades. Groundhog Day? Pfffff

Propaganda movie
8 April 2011
I saw the movie at a theater. I went out with friends and mistakingly bought tickets for it. It was excruciating. If the pace had been any slower, it would have played in reverse. I had seen plenty of German and French movies; suddenly they all seemed like Hollywood action blockbusters. The piling of stereotype upon stereotype, of political clichés and populist propaganda was suffocating. This will sound sarcastic, but the absolutely best part of the film was the funeral procession; almost the whole of Chopin's Funeral March was played. The change of pace made me almost dizzy. It was the final proof that States should never merge art and political agendas. In retrospective, we had fun: it's been more than two decades and we still cheer "We did it for Poland!" at friends reunions.

Starcrash (1978)

I mean, saying its AWFUL is a spoiler, right???

Warning: Spoilers
Since I was kid I've loved SF. I've seen everything from everywhere and anywhen. And this is the crappiest movie I've ever seen, hands down. It's impossible to describe. You absolutely MUST see it to believe it. And even then you won't. Christopher Plummer's personal Hell will be someone just standing at his side, asking him "Hey, remember when you did Starcrash??" ---

OK I wanted to make it short and to the point, but 10 lines is the minimum, so I what else can I say? At some point the female main character is running at the beach in a bikini. And David Hasselhoff is in this movie. Just a coincidence?

Great dialogs too: "Fire the laser cannon, robot, now!!" "Go on hit it" "More to the left..." (Yeah, in a three dimensional space) "Yeah, ha ha! We did it"

Fringe (2008–2013)
1/10
So far, so bad.
13 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished episode 5 of the first season. Just to put my opinion in perspective, let me say I've gone through Star Trek and all its spin-offs, Stargate SG-1, Time Tunnel, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost, X-Files, Babylon 5, both Battlestar Galacticas, the original V, The 4400, Heroes, Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds Are Go, Supercar, Gilligan's Island and both Love Boats. My point is I think I'm really easy to please. But so far, Fringe is the worst of the worst I've ever seen. Overexplained, overacted, clichéd, and if it's in the fringe, it is not of science, but of fantasy on the side of incoherence. Suspension of disbelief is an unavoidable requirement while watching any sci-fi or fantasy show, but what Fringe asks for is suspension of thought. The fantastic phenomena feel like X-Files first season's rejects. The plot is transparent, the overbearing overmisterious boss is nerve-grating, the (literally) mad scientist asking for onion soup in the midst of corpses with exploded eyes and heads gets old the second time, the dead-meat love story with the alfa male who was not the main character was unforgivably predictable, the betrayed surviving female agent with his always tortured look is annoying, and the mad's scientist rogue son with the secret past who is always about to go away but stays because he read the script and so knows he'll get his affair with the agent is OK, but just because he stole Dawson's Creek from James Van Der Beek. I expected much more from JJ Abrams after Lost, but where Lost insinuates weirdness and conflict, Fringe tries to shove it in with all the subtlety of Robert de Niro with a baseball bat. And fails miserably. I intend to keep plodding on and see if it somehow picks itself up, as X-Files eventually did, or it's just that JJ has began to franchise his name around.

A couple of Newyorkers with marital problems gets sent to the boondocks.
16 March 2010
I liked it. 85% of it at least. The ending was a given, of course, but (SPOILER) since the attack on the safe-house to the very end it seemed completely out of sync with the rest of the movie. But up until them I liked it very much. The one-liners were great. The big-city people in the boondocks it's always a funny theme. Yeah, there probably wasn't much chemistry between them, but I don't really like SJP, so I might be biased. The country scenes were awesome. It was funny. It was entertaining. That's what I expected from it and I got it. Of course, I didn't dislike Serving Sarah and Welcome to Mooseport either so my tastes are kinda broad. (Still waiting for a Jack Black movie I like, though).

Lethal Orbit (1996 TV Movie)

The best bad movie I ever partially watched
24 November 2009
I kept going from laughing to feeling almost physical pain, so completely awful it was. All of the other comments are right. Some time later I accidentally caught a TV special about either the movie or J.M.Vincent (I think it was a about him, one of those Hollywood true story shows). They said JMV had a huge drinking problem (it's also in the trivia) and that when he got on board the producers or whatever hadn't met him. Most of the time he couldn't remember his lines, or mumbled them out, or just got totally spaced out watching nothing, just frozen. Towards the end it was the best of the worst, with that shadow creeping over the astronaut face... want to know what happened? Watch it and suffer. I'm thinking about renting it and watching it whole. I'm a masochist.
