Threads (1984 TV Movie)

Don't Watch This NOW

Here at the end of 2023 I recently became aware of this film because I watched, "101 Scariest Movie Moments" on Shudder. This film was mentioned and I found it on TUBI. So, the war in Ukraine is in full force, Hamas invaded Isreal and Isreal is retaliating, bombs are flying out of Syria hitting US targets in Iraq and Iran is playing footsie with Russia and China and are starting to saber rattle, the US border is wide open with people streaming in and we don't know who they are or if they have nefarious intentions. This was not the best time to watch this. Today's news sounds like the news reported in this movie. Will we go all the way? Will Iran decide to go for it? Will Russia get desperate? Will China invade Taiwan? I'm hopeful that our arrogant and hapless leaders think long and hard about the decisions they may be faced with. Watch this movie through today's lens. Totally horrifying.

Fear Thy Neighbor (2014–2023)

Canadian Accents

This show is ok. I'm binging the series and I'm on season 5. Anyway, really, really bad acting but the most annoying thing is the friggin Canadian accents! Whether the stories are supposed to be in Texas, South Carolina or Florida, it's obviously Canada. The producers don't even try to fake it! Snow and heavy coats with pine trees in Central Texas. Is it a big deal? No. It's just lazy. The show itself is a good time passer. Not great, not awful. It's definitely watchable. Another thing: Guns! Guns! Gun! There is mediation organizations out there that can help you with mutual disagreements. So, those are my gripes.

Mission: Impossible: Speed (1973) Season 7, Episode 19

Good Episode

The last season of MI episodes were pretty formulaic. Foreign dictators, mob bosses, gambling outfits, etc. What stood out in this episode is that it's shot in San Francisco. The problem with MI throughout it's run is they tried to convince the viewers that LA was a foreign country or another city. It was great to see them do an honest to goodness location shoot! The bike scenes flying around the city were somewhat reminiscent of Bullitt. I was born and raised just north of SF in Marin. It's always a pleasure to see my beloved city across the bridge in movies an TV from the early 70's. How far the city has fallen since then. Anyway, the episode is fast paced and entertaining. Definitely worth a watch.

You got that right Scotty! The cringe factor of this episode is off the charts. Even as a kid, I could not for the life of me figure out why Sulu was freaked out over the swords on the viewscreen. Swords? Just floating threw space? Even if your mind is being manipulated how the actual hell? And the fist pumping thing. No one figured out the correlation between that and people getting psycho? The funniest thing that also stood out to me was the look on the security guard's face when Kirk is talking backwards. Totally deadpan! How did that guy not laugh his ass off? Finally, Kirk in the turbolift when he's, "Losing command...". Shatner at his best!

Not the point

It doesn't matter. Plea deal or no plea deal. All three men were admittedly high. They were phoney tough and out to cause trouble. A totally innocent man is dead. I don't care if two of them had better legal advice and got lighter sentences than the dude who got 40 years. All 3 deserve to be where they are. When the CRIMINAL at the end started sobbing and whining about how unfair the system was, it made my blood boil! You were involved! You chose your fate! The cabbie had no choice. A 29 year old guy trying to turn a buck and you 3 thugs blew him away for no reason! Dry your tears. Reflect on your sins. Amend your ways. Take your sentence. Amend your ways. You get out when your 70? Well the cabbie didn't even make it to 30.

Definitely NOT for adults. I really can't understand the glowing reviews for this thing. Boring. I wanted to slap the smart ass kids, especially "Podcast". Forgettable. Felt like a poorly made Netflix show.

Got Me Into Jerry Lee Lewis

I didn't know a lot about JLL's music until I saw this. I was hooked! Bought a greatest hits TAPE immediately after viewing. Love his tunes. That led me to finding Eddie Cochrane, Carl Perkins and others. BUT saw JLL, Little Richard and Chuck Berry together in the early 90's. Lewis and Berry were arrogant blowhard! Little Richard was a kind, warm man with great energy who actually hung out to answer questions and sign autographs! I still love his music but the guy was a jerk at this gig.

The movie is pretty cool for the most part. Kind of cartoonist but entertaining. Definitely worth a watch.

C'mon people! Lemmy's in it! Lemmy is God! That said, the movie itself is pretty funny in parts. It is what it is. It's also a great snapshot of the times.

Right away I couldn't get into this. IMO I think social media and extreme gaming have taken the soul out of the masses. That said, this movie is probably great for the vapid, stoned, anxiety ridden kids. Kids being 8 to 35. Also, this is a Disney flick. Disney has ruined it's brand in recent days. It's kinda sad actually.

Worst Roommate Ever (2022–2024)

Way bingeable! I love true crime docs and this one did not disappoint. Once I started, I couldn't stop. Watched the whole series in one sitting. The last segment (in 2 parts) was absolutely horrifying! What motivates people to do these things astounds me!

Rehab?

I work at a drug/alcohol rehab and addicts like Rue can't be helped at this point because she's not willing to change. Drugs are still working for her. She needs to hit a hard bottom and and either choose recovery, death or permanent misery. If she was admitted to my facility, she'd be a manipulative cancer to those who seriously want to change and probably be either booted or choose to leave AMA. If she does decide to become willing, she'll need intensive therapy one to one then maybe rehab or go back to meetings. Sometimes the best help for an addict is to let them go. They will take you down with them and use your love and concern as a weapon against you. I know some people reading this know that's true! The show itself is interesting and dramatic. The direction and cinematography are stellar. I do like this show and am into it. I Definitely want to see how it pans out. I'm totally pulling for her.

Acting? Bad. Plot line? Bad. Writing? Bad. Even the music is bad. This show was sold as a horror/mystery but it's a "Chick Flick" that's basically a soap opera in the woods (half of the time). Thank God there's only one dreaded episode left.

This show so far is ok I guess. My wife and I are on the fence about moving forward with it. Speaking of moving forward, this episode went no where. Some incidents happened that went towards character development but nothing really groundbreaking. I am asking myself one question. What does the auto dude see in what's her name? I think he's a reporter or cop or something. Probably just me.

Like the car accident scene, the last 5 minutes of the episode hit me out of NOWHERE! Definitely not expecting what came to pass.

Love this show! Nice to see Olivia Dunham in another role as well! LOL.

I'm watching this episode with headphones on and still can barely make out the dialog. Not because of accents or the pacing of it but because the sound design is horrendous! The mix between soundtrack and background events like explosions or whatever, is making it damn near impossible to figure out what the characters are saying. It's extremely annoying..

Dune (2021)

I Liked It

I knew this was a trilogy so I knew it would end suddenly. All in all, knowing the story, I thought it was pretty good. I didn't need extensive character development but if you don't know the story, I could see how that would be frustrating. It's definitely worth a watch but it is a commitment at two and half hours. I am looking forward to the next one for sure.

This show is a muddled mess. Confusing and no likable contestants. I'm having a really hard time caring about any of these people. They all suck. I'm not sure if I'll stick with this or just give up and try next season.

........it would be this movie. So, a major US city gets destroyed. Lots of explosions. We film it in an Asian country with Martial Arts. We've got a hit! All I need is millions and we're good to go!

That said, it's not a bad movie. Entertaining and worth a watch.

Ok we all agree the King is the King. Great doc for all fans of course. But JERRY SCHIFF on bass is incredible! I'm watching this right now wearing headphones. Schiff on bass has total tarrantula fingers! Flying down the fret board like crazy! If you dig bass watch this doc!

Yes. Lots of loopholes. Yes. Bad physics. Yes. We've seen this kind of plot before. Yes. A touch of cheese. Who cares? The CGI was stellar. The action was great! Shut your brain off and go with it. Besides, Star Lord is in it!
