Try harder next time...
18 April 2022
Confessions of a shopaholic was a devil wears prada try hard, where she doesn't confess a single thing. Love interest annoying. Too 2009, forgivable considering it was 2009 but it's a fine line.

Shock and awe
26 January 2020
For nearly 2 hours, Sam Mendes' 1917 kept me on the edge of my seat with immense suspense and almost horror throughout the films runtime. 1917 brings the one shot film style inspired by Birdman (2014) but at an even bigger scale. The one shot style makes you feel even closer to the two soldiers with their intense and demanding mission. The film uses its one shot style to make set pieces feel real, gritty and intense and will leave you in shock and awe when these sequences stop. If you like war films, there is no better cinematic experience delivering the same quality, suspense and emotion in January. With the oscar worthy cinematography of Roger Deakins, the charming and grounded character with the cutting edge directing of Sam Mendes, 1917 is more than just a film, it's an experience, one which all should witness

Visually stunning but not much else
19 December 2019
Before i start, i like both TFA and TLJ despite both having their faults but i appreciate both of the visions they were trying to convey

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker feels like a confused and unfocused mess with countless missed opportunities with their characters and various sub plots

is it too much to ask from big budget blockbuster movies to give us some character development or some down time to let viewers breathe and establish viable and strong motivations rather than having to witness an visually stunning but unsatisfying action sequence every 5 minutes

spectacle over actual substance is the issue here, with the paper thin plot filled with holes and the unfortunate behind the scenes issues (carrie fishers death, rian johnson's clash of visions etc) almost doomed the film before it started

the only thing that worked for me personally was one or two nice action scenes and the quiet moments of the film when copy and pasted marvel humour isn't being exclaimed at every opportunity

if you came to see big explosions and space ships then you will most likely satisfied, but if you like something a bit more with your star wars then maybe this isn't for you

The Punisher: Roadhouse Blues (2019)
Season 2, Episode 1

Brilliant

An excellent start to a new season, with a much higher body count. Instead of adopting the slow moving pace of the first season, this sets the tone for what's to come. Setting up interesting characters and giving the bloody violence of the punisher we all know and love. As good as the first season was, it took a while to get going, but the punisher season 2 has gripped me within the first episode. Very impressed

Impressed

While not all the jokes landed, and some of the music choice for some scenes seemed out of place, Blackkklansman is an extremely good film. Each of the characters have interesting stories and arcs to keep you interested and the small segments of well crafted action kept me entertained. Blackkklansman has a very relevant message with twists and turns which keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a film that everyone should see. My one problem would be the ending, it felt a bit out of place yet it didn't ruin the film for me
