What the Health (2017)
Salmonella took down the Twin Towers
I absolutely hate this documentary.
Around 20 minute mark, the documentary states "milk doesn't build strong bones". Then it cuts to a 60 years old lady in a walker talking about how miserable her life is. The documentary fails to prove how milk is related to her condition. It's misleading and deceptive.
Around 35 minutes in, the documentary correlates salmonella to terror attack on 911. And I was done. I can't watch any more of this garbage.
It's hard for me to continue because the documentary is very biased and emotionally charged to sell a point that meat is bad. It interjects often "according to my research", which is a bunch of online google search that anyone can find opposing research on.
This is the worst documentary I've watched on health. I wish it was more factual and less introspective.
The Wake (2017)
Terrible! Absolutely Terrible.
This is a terrible movie.
*spoiler*
The script is bad. It's a slasher turn demonic possession starring lifeless characters that can't put their brains together enough to escape a modern house. For example, her phone isn't charged at the beginning, but not once asked to charge it in the house. Then claims "sexist" when someone calls her out? Really? Then a guy says, there's probably no service here anyways- lazy writing.
Acting is bad. The reactions are unrealistic. Guy gets stabbed and everyone stands around with hands over their mouths. WTF?
The music is bad, the piano almost drowns out the dialog. The other choices are more distracting than actually adds atmosphere.
The end/ reveal/ twist is dumb. You have an Asian Buddhist shrine thing going on in the house, but then goes to a Satanic basement at the end? Could have done the Christian / Catholic thing in the house and it would have worked somewhat for the end. It's confusing.
It's just a bad movie. Sorry, I hate it.
Darkness Rising (2017)
typical and awful
I don't like to write reviews. But I've watched so many terrible horrors, I feel like I have to say something.
This movie is gawd awful. Everything that is wrong with current horror is in this movie - amplified; false jump scare, forgettable characters with no intelligence spitting nonsensical lines, unnecessary special effects (the house has a Star Trek force field, dude really?), it's annoyingly loud, unimaginative and confusing non-existing story line.
This movie made me physically mad.
I had to reward myself with ice cream having endured a terrible experience called Darkness Rising.
Save yourself the time, skip it.
