Sweet Magnolias: Save My Place (2023)
All the feels of a small town wedding
The Magnolias and the rest of Serenity gather to celebrate Dana Sue and Ronnie as they renew their vowels. Fences are mended and romances begin to bloom.
The highlight for me was Helen's rendition of the song "With You", from the musical Pippin. It's one of my all-time favorites, and Heather Headley's rendition is the most beautiful version I've ever heard!
On the downside, this episode felt like a possible series finale...I hope not, because there is more life to be lived in Serenity. Will Noreen find true love, and with whom? Will Helen and Eric rekindle their romance, and how would that complicate Genevieve's role at the spa? And I want to see the young generation in Serenity grow and change come into their own.
Only time will tell, but my fingers are crossed for a season four...and beyond!
The Big Bang Theory: The Habitation Configuration (2012)
Um, who's really being rude here?
I usually love Amy Farrah Fowler, but she was wrong accusing Wil Wheaton of being rude, when it was she who was acting like a true asshat while directing Fun with Flags"...not her finest!
The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002)
Not as bad as they say!
My husband and I never heard the bad reviews before watching Pluto Nash...and it has become one of our favorites! Certainly not Eddie Murphy's best film, but no less enjoyable in my book!
Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts (2021)
Robin Roberts doing what she does best!
I am in love and in awe with these strong women just talking, speaking their truths, lifting each other up and not knocking them down...Robin gets the ball rolling, but its inspiring how they bring out the best in each other, especially when there's a bit of hesitancy! Hoping there is more to come, because there are more inspirational woman to be heard!
Heartland (2007)
Love this show!
I absolutely love Heartland...the family dynamic is less than perfect, but that keeps it real! The setting is beautiful as it gets! My one issue with it is that NOBODY communicates about the things they should, the most important things, and that ends up causing unnecessary misunderstandings!
Everything to Gain (1996)
Ok movie, only if you never read the book
I watched this TV movie version of my all time favorite book, and was so disappointed! The main story of what happened to Mallory Keswick's family was basically the same. But unlike the movie, Detective DeMarco was a very minor character in the book...certainly no romance! I suggest you read the book; the story is much richer and realistic.
Little House on the Prairie: Sweet Sixteen (1980)
Loved this episode, except one infuriating inconsistency
This is the episode where Almanzo finally sees Laura as more than a little girl...the one where Laura finally gets to teach, subbing for a pipe smoking elder teacher who broke her leg...the one where they share their first kiss. All in all a sweet episode...except the part where Pa laments that he thinks he's losing his daughter, and Ma actually says "I certainly hope so, I've been dying to call you grandpa!" TOTALLY ignoring the fact that just THREE episodes prior they were morning the tragic death of their GRANDSON in the blind school fire! Still infuriates me 40 years later!
Little House on the Prairie: Times Are Changing (Part One) (1982)
Changes, but inconsistencies too
Very enjoyable, but I was annoyed by the inconsistency with Almanzo's brother Royal. In the season 7 episode 14, "The Nephews", Royal was married with 2 rambunctious sons, and a child on the way; they visited Almanzo and Laura, leaving their boys with them to wreak havoc. However in this episode he is an ailing widower with a daughter, and hadn't seen Almanzo for 10 years. The addition of the Carter family was a real treat, and seeing the continued maturity of Willie Oleson in stark contrast with his sister Nancy was refreshing compared to the unified brattiness he shared with Nellie.
The Big Bang Theory: Unaired Pilot (2006)
An alternate TBBT universe
I didn't watch this unaired pilot until TBBT was in about it's 5th season. While I'm glad the series played out as it did, I think it would have been fun to have included this pilot as some sort of dream sequence/alternate universe episode...kinda sad that it never happened.
